CityZen changes
Its been roughly two months since the end of Steam Next Fest. Thank you for all the feedback! This patch brings numerous fixes as well as a new game mode.
These changes are available in the demo. Keep in mind that the demo is still progression-limited and provides a partial experience for both game modes.
New Features
Standard Mode
A new game mode focused on building and optimizing supply chains. Spend money to construct miners, loggers, factories, retailers and dwellings. Provide your city with utilities like water and electricity. Optimize your supply chain to sell commodities for money while also collecting taxes from your residents.
This mode complements the existing game mode which has been renamed "Quick Mode."
Improvements and Enhancements
- UXImproved action bar navigation by grouping similar buildings
- UXImproved UI audio cues in some situations
- UXAdded tooltips to better explain the effects of various buildings
- UXImproved touchscreen navigation to eliminate constant re-centering
- UXImproved edge panning logic
Gameplay: Bridges will be automatically created when the road is built over water
- GameplayImproved car navigation and driving
- GameplayImproved progression on Quick Mode to more quickly progress through tiers
- GameplayImproved initial map generation and building placements
- GameplayAdded a "last chance" option in the Quick Mode
- GraphicsImproved appearance of road segments to be smoother, reduced road clipping
Graphics: Eliminated foliage "flicker" when placing buildings on terrain
- PerformanceImproved terrain generation speed, should help with initial map load
- PerformanceImproved initial PSO caching by reducing number of unique shaders
- PerformanceImproved rendering performance by reducing frequency of shadow map invalidations
Bug Fixes
- Steam initialization issuesFixed several issues with build/Steam interaction which led to crashes
- Road constructionFixed an issue where roads would sometimes connect incorrectly
- Vehicle navigationFixed several issues where vehicles would run off roads of disappear too quickly
- PerformanceFixed an issue with game initializing, often leading to excessive power consumption
