City Defense Z - Major Update 4 is Live!
We’re back with another major update and this one changes how you approach the battlefield.
A brand new map, a fresh mechanic, and a unique card are now in the game. Let’s dive in.
New Map: Split City A long-abandoned city now stands in your way.
Split City brings a completely different atmosphere a place that feels frozen in time, filled with the remnants of a past long gone. Every run here feels unpredictable, and every decision matters more.
Trick: Split City On this map you have have 2 sides to defend!
New Mechanic: Build Block Not all ground is yours anymore.
In Split City, some grid tiles are occupied by ruined, abandoned structures. These remnants block your ability to build, forcing you to rethink your placement strategy from the very beginning.
Adapt, improvise, and find new ways to survive.
New Card: Land Clearing Take back what was lost.
The new Land Clearing card allows you to remove abandoned structures and reclaim blocked tiles. This card only appears in Split City and becomes a key part of mastering the new map.
Use it wisely every tile counts.
Additional Improvements & Fixes • Added an intro dialogue when entering Split City • Updated enemy spawning, targeting, and unit placement logic for the new map • Fixed bullet mark visual issue in the base • Permanent screen now opens automatically after completing or failing a run • Tutorial updated for the Permanent step • Added blocked grid system specific to the new map • Added a map-specific card to clear blocked building tiles • Improved video playback system • Unit inventory now supports scrolling due to increased unit count • Added auto-merge and brush bindings for Steam Deck • Removed leaderboard score limit • Added Split City to leaderboard • Fixed issues related to Taunt character
Final Words This update is all about adaptation.
Split City challenges your habits, BlockBuild limits your options, and Land Clearing gives you the power to fight back.
We can’t wait to see how you handle it.
