A big hello to all our stylists!

I’m Zack, the salon owner. With the Summer Sale just around the corner, we thought it’d be the perfect time to stir up a little excitement in the salon!

Over the past few months, we’ve been reading your Steam reviews, community feedback, videos, and screenshots. We’re truly grateful to see so many players having fun with friends. That said, we’ve also heard your frustrations: unstable co-op connections, customers and items getting stuck, some late-game mechanics becoming overwhelming, and solo or duo play putting too much pressure on players.

So for the Summer Sale, we didn’t want to just post a discount and call it a day. Instead, we’ll be rolling out a more stable version of the game, along with some exciting rewards. And after that, we’ll drag the entire dev team out for a proper showdown with you!

1. Version Update

In the first half of this year, we focused on polishing the rough edges of the game experience. In the new version launching during the Summer Sale, we’ve fixed most known bugs, improved the core experience, and adjusted the score requirements for some levels.

Updates include, but are not limited to:

  • Co-op stability improvementsReduced issues such as lag during long play sessions and desync between the host and teammates.
  • Customer and item interaction fixesImproved cases where customers or items could get stuck in the environment, become impossible to pick up, fail to be thrown, or fly off unexpectedly.
  • Level mechanic improvements: Reviewed mechanics that were more likely to cause blockage or frustration, such as rotating platforms, portals, and springs.

  • Solo and Duo balance adjustments: Optimized score targets, customer flow, and overall pressure in selected levels.

  • Controller, tips, and UI improvementsFixed some input recognition issues, overlapping prompts, and unclear information displays.
  • Quick character select feature added: You can now switch characters quickly based on your needs. No more rerouting back to the lobby between levels just for this!

  • Improved synced character unlocksIn multiplayer, non-host players can now unlock new characters together with the host! No more watching your teammate get a new character while you can only stare in envy.

For the full list of fixes, please check the official update notes.

We’d also like to give a special thanks to everyone who reported issues to us. Your attention, reminders, and criticism are what keep pushing us to make the game better!

2. New Historical Low: 32% Off During the Summer Sale!

Here comes the big one: during the Summer Sale, Choppy Cuts will be 32% off, reaching its lowest price yet! If you’ve been following the game, or if you’ve still been on the fence, this is a great time to step into the salon!

Steam post image Since the game supports both local couch co-op and Steam Remote Play Together, you can invite friends to try a few rounds first. And if you want your own separate save file, now’s also a great time to add the game to your library at its new lowest price.

3. Think You Have What It Takes? Join the Developer Challenge!

On June 26, 2026, our dev team will personally take on Level 1-7!

We’ll play in front of everyone and set what we consider a respectable score. That score will become the benchmark for the challenge. If your team can meet or beat our score, you’ll earn a Steam gift card!

On top of that, the team with the highest score in the challenge will unlock an extra $30 Steam gift card for each team member!

The video and benchmark score will be posted on our official accounts across all platforms.

Event Rules:

  • Challenge period: June 27, 2026, 10:00 UTC - July 9, 2026, 16:00 UTC Players must challenge the same level and difficulty setting as the developers. Any run with a final score equal to or higher than the developer score will qualify for a reward.

  • How to submit

Upload your full gameplay video to YouTube, X, or Instagram, then send the link to our official Discord channel. You can also add a message like “I just submitted my Summer Sale Challenge video!” so we know to check it out.

    Submission deadline

    July 9, 2026, 16:00 UTC.

  • Rewards: Teams that meet or exceed the benchmark score during the event period will each receive a $2 Steam gift card per team member. Limited to the first 20 teams only, first come, first served. The team with the highest score will receive an additional $30 Steam gift card per team member. If multiple teams tie for the highest score, the team that submitted their entry to our official Discord first will be the winner.

  • Scoring rules: Any run that uses any form of game exploit, such as bugs, cheats, abnormal save data, or results that cannot be verified, will not be included in the rankings. If the same team posts on multiple platforms or multiple players submit the same run, it will only be counted as a single submission. A single Steam account may join multiple teams, but prizes will only be awarded once, based on the highest reward earned. All submissions must include the full gameplay run and the final score screen.

Version 1.5 Update

Items marked with 💈 were added thanks to community feedback.

Improvements:

💈 Maxim

“When we first designed the eating mechanic, we thought we’d need a character who could help customers eat faster, and Maxim, with his big appetite, seemed like a perfect fit. But in actual gameplay, eating speed didn’t have much impact on scoring. What we really needed was someone who could wash hair faster and keep co-op runs moving at a better pace, so Maxim decided to switch careers.”

Passive Skill: Swift Fingers

Lv. 1: Slightly increases hair-washing speed.

Lv. 2: Greatly increases hair-washing speed.

Pika

“As a strong contender for the title of cutest stylist alongside Meowco, Pika was originally designed to gradually restore customer satisfaction while washing their hair. But that didn’t feel quite impactful enough. Even worse, in the Western levels, customers don’t even ask for hair washes! So Pika has decided to take his technique beyond hair washing and put it to use whenever he carries a customer. He also left us with one final thought: shampoo can’t save every fragile heart.”

Passive Skill: Up You Go!

Lv. 1: Gradually restores a small amount of satisfaction for the customer you're carrying.

Lv. 2: Gradually restores a large amount of satisfaction for the customer you're carrying.

💈 Jellio

“We wanted Jellio to have a more practical role in boss levels, since he’d been sitting on the sidelines for quite a while. So instead of having his active skill pull customers around, we figured it made more sense to give the whole team a shield.”

Active Skill: Ultimate Defense

While the skill is active, the whole team is immune to stuns.

Bug Fixes:

💈 Fixed an issue in co-op mode where customers or clowns would sometimes fail to appear.

💈 Fixed an issue in co-op mode where screen transitions could fail.

💈 Fixed an issue in co-op mode where the watering can would appear in the wrong position.

💈 Fixed some UI display errors.

💈 Fixed some issues with lobby creation prompts.

Fixed an issue in co-op mode where some character animations would not play correctly.

Fixed an issue in co-op mode where controllers would vibrate incorrectly.

Fixed incorrect behavior after clowns/werewolves were hit.

Fixed an issue in co-op mode where characters could fly off in random directions after certain actions.

Fixed an issue where the clouds would remain after unlocking a level
