Hi everyone! We want to thank everyone for playing Chipmatic. We're a team of two, so it has been a chaotic week full of bug-fixes and a lot of work. We feel the game is now in a good state for its first proper balance update.
We've been reading all the feedback (and it was a LOT). Other than the already fixed bugs, it mostly revolves around late-game balancing. The game should be about automation, but also mining. The drill broke that gameplay loop in the late-game, so we've made a couple changes that should make mining a more appealing activity in the later tiers.
We've also caught up to some of the less critical bugs you guys reported, and some of those fixes are included in this patch as well.
As always, please report any issues or feedback via the Steam Discussions and Discord. We read absolutely everything and it helps shape the game in the future.
Here are the patch notes:
Re-balanced the drill so all ores take 60 seconds to mine. Ore quantity has also been adjusted to account for this, so the only noticeable change is that you no longer have to babysit the drill if you set it up to mine low-tier materials like coal or iron. The drill will take exactly the same time to fill up no matter what minerals you set it up for.
Tile hardness increase per tier has been reduced slightly. You'll notice this mainly in the late-game, where you'll now mine faster upon reaching a new tier.
Smelter speed upgrades in the laboratory have been increased from x1,5 -> x2 -> x3 to x2 -> x3 -> x5.
Lowered Steel Rod base crafting time from 15 seconds to 8 seconds.
Changed Steel Ingot recipe to require Iron Ore instead of Iron Ingot. This will free up some of your smelter slots, essentially increasing the amount of Steel Ingots you can produce.
Changed Nuclear Reactor to require Uranium Cells instead of Uranium. This was an oversight, the Nuclear reactor should be a hard to maintain energy source that gives tons of energy. Let us know if it now feels too underwhelming, we're listening!
Fixed base inventory not expandable while underground.
Fixed being able to open building UI while paused.
Added extra gamepad icons and instructions.
Added base inventory compatibility with gamepad.
Lastly, thank you everyone who left a positive review! We really appreciate the kind words, and we hope you enjoy these changes!
