We’ve just updated and published the ChessFinity Demo on Steam — you can download it and play right now.

ChessFinity is chess reimagined in 3D, plus Mana Chess deckbuilding. The demo is a focused “slice” of the game so you can get a feel for the core systems, the 3D boards, and the strange rule sets and pieces.

What’s in the demo (solo-focused)

The demo focuses on solo play (vs AI or self-play) and includes a limited set of curated presets across five modes:

  • Classic — traditional chess rules, ready to play

  • Mana Chess — deckbuilding chess: build a deck and spend mana to deploy pieces (3 moves per turn)

  • Modded (3D Chess) — variants on unusual boards and multi-level 3D boards

  • Co-op (2v2) — team setups you can try in solo presets

  • FFA — chaotic free-for-all presets (solo-focused in this demo)

Plus: puzzles, mini-games, and new tutorial.

What’s coming in Early Access

We’re aiming for Early Access in late April. Early Access will expand beyond the demo with:

  • Online multiplayer (and ongoing improvements to multiplayer)

  • More presets in every mode (more boards, more rules, more matchups)

  • More puzzles and mini-games

  • A customisation mode for creating and experimenting with your own setups

We want your feedback

If you try the demo, we’d love to hear:

  • Which mode is the most fun (Classic / Mana / 3D Modded / 2v2 / FFA)?

  • Is Mana Chess clear to learn? Are the deck/mana rules intuitive?

  • Any UI clarity issues on 3D boards (camera, visibility, move highlights)?

  • Is the tutorial sufficient enough?

  • Balance thoughts, difficulty vs AI, or “this preset is amazing / this preset is confusing”

  • Bugs/performance issues (and your system specs if possible)

If you enjoy the demo, please wishlist the full game — it helps a lot and you’ll be notified when Early Access updates go live.

Thanks for playing, and thanks for supporting ChessFinity!
