This means players will still be able to visit their Chooks on old farms and play the classic Cheeky Chooks gameplay, while the new content and gameplay will only be available in Adventure Mode .

Hey all you Chookers out there! Can you believe that since we first released Cheeky Chooks we have close to a quarter of a million of you cracking eggs with us? Wow. We have some big changes and content coming that we wanted to tell you all about!

The changes will alter the game so much that we are created a new mode called Adventure Mode while old saves will be known as Idle Mode. This means players will still be able to visit their Chooks on old farms and play the classic Cheeky Chooks gameplay, while the new content and gameplay will only be available in Adventure Mode.

So what's coming to Cheeky Chooks?

Cheeky Chooks Seasons Update

We are hard at work on what will be the biggest update to the game yet, the Cheeky Chooks Seasons Update! This update for Cheeky Chooks will introduce Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter to the game. As time passes the Seasons will change, requiring the player to adapt their farms to keep their Chooks happy.

Players will have to find the right items to use, or risk having some unhappy Chooks on their hands. Players will find and unlock a range of new items and devices, and find that many items are only useful in certain seasons.

New Economy

In the new Adventure Mode we are doing away with the more idle based mechanics and economy. We want to create a much more realistic and down to earth simulation of a real chicken farm. Below are some of the biggest changes to the economy and gameplay you can expect:

  • Earning money will be a lot more difficult

  • Eggs will now sell for less, and laying rates will be decreased

  • Prices for items will not increase the more of them you have

  • Selling items will result in you receiving 75% of original investment back (previously 50%)

  • Players will not receive offline earnings

New Chooks!

It's time to get Chooking all over again with over 40 new Chooks to find! New Chooks will all have requirements or riddles to solve to unlock. Some will be linked to certain seasons, while some may require you owning certain items or performing tasks.

Chooks old and new will be listed in a new Chook section of the Journal menu, which allows players to track which ones they have yet to unlock with clues on how to get them!

And finally after many requests, the Legendary Chooks will return to the game!

New Buildings and Items

Lots of new buildings and items to be unlocked!

Time of Day and Calendar

The main UI will now have a date, time and current temperature added to it, to help players keep track of the changing seasons and weather.

Graphical Improvements and Lighting Systems

While for the most part Cheeky will still have the same style, we have changed a bunch of things under the hood to do things we never could in the past. From seasonal and weather changes, to proper dynamic time of day and ability to add light sources.

Optimisations and General Improvements

We have optimised the game in several ways, starting with the switch to Deferred Rendering, and newly optimised shaders being used. The code base for Cheeky has also been vastly streamlined and Chook AI is being improved. So while we are making massive changes and adding a tonne of content to the game, it should in fact run better than ever!
