Cats Kill Zombies changes
Hi everyone,
June is almost here, and I'm quite busy preparing everything for Next Fest. I'm also updating the demo, which you can play right now if you want.
I've just finished the first area of the game, and you might have noticed a big shift in the art style...
The early art had a yellowish palette and was more photorealistic, with many elements competing for attention on the screen, taking focus away from the characters and the action.
Now, I'm using a more stylized and clean look. While photorealism has its merits, this new style helps eliminate the visual noise that was becoming problematic. Additionally, the camera has shifted to a full isometric view, replacing the old top-down perspective.
There are also new monsters. The tractor is a big, tough one. It's slow, but the zombie in the back carries a deadly assault rifle, so it's best to destroy that thing as soon as you can.
Humans and animals are not the only undead creatures roaming Ravinbrook; even plants are getting zombified. Tomatoes and oranges are no exception. These zombie veggies are weak, but in groups, they can be quite frightening.
Last but not least, we have Charlie. He's been dead for many years, but now he awaits you at the end of the level.
The farmlands are meant to be the first step towards the infected town. Before conquering the town, you'll have to conquer the countryside.
