fixedLocalizationWith this update, Catharage receives its first translated version - German ! As a native speaker, this translation was entirely home-made (no AI here!) and frankly, a pain to put together. It turns out that localization support is not best done 8 months after a game's launch. Despite some issues, the game now supports localized text for both static instances like buttons as well as runtime-generated text, such as weapon descriptions, and groundwork exists for more future languages to come. Work is currently ongoing on French, Spanish and Italian localization. While I cannot give a fixed date for these, expect to see them at some point in the future. Note that as a result of this localization, some UI text has been made smaller to accomodate larger strings in other languages. Some minor elements also remain untranslated as of now but will be fixed soon.
fixedThe CycleThe Cycle is a hardcore singleplayer daily challenge mode that can be accessed from the Fleet & More header in the launch menu. In this mode, you'll be put into a fixed, daily seed warp with your ship and no upgrades . You can warp, but cannot choose your destination, and warping will increment the "day" of the seed by one, so depending on how far you get, you can preview many days to come. Playing the mode will not gain materials or scrap, and while objective structures can spawn, completing them will not progress the respective objective! As usual, completing missions will allow you to place on an exclusive leaderboard. The Cycle is intended as a knowledge challenge for experienced players who know their way around the game, and a more competitive playing field than the normal progression-enabled leaderboards.
addedOther changesOverview Grid Display: A new shader has been implemented into the overview, showing gridlines and angle information to help orient navigators in space. This data can also be used to coordinate in multiplayer, where telling coop partners where to go has thus far been challenging.

Localization

With this update, Catharage receives its first translated version - German! As a native speaker, this translation was entirely home-made (no AI here!) and frankly, a pain to put together. It turns out that localization support is not best done 8 months after a game's launch. Other changes

  • Overview Grid DisplayA new shader has been implemented into the overview, showing gridlines and angle information to help orient navigators in space. This data can also be used to coordinate in multiplayer, where telling coop partners where to go has thus far been challenging.
  • Buff to Hunter Killer Sensor: This module was severely underperforming compared to most other options, owing to the fact that only a single entity could be marked at a time. It has been buffed to mark up to 6 targets at once, which should enhance its power by a lot.

  • Mythic items will properly uninstall after being extracted

  • Fixed a bug where the Tutorial damage message could unintentionally be displayed while extracting under fire

  • Fixes for some rare crashes

  • Other small fixes

That's all for this update. I hope you enjoy the new mode and additions, and maybe post a score on the Cycle leaderboard! Note that Catharage is currently discounted at 50% for a week as part of the "Games Composed In Germany" Sale.
