Hi, everyone.
It is hard to believe that it's been a whole year since Cards of Divinity officially came out, but here we are and so it felt like an update was in order to address some of the issues with the game and give a quick update on what's next.
But before that, I want to thank everyone who tried out the game since the release. Seeing hundreds of people pick up the game has really inspired me more than I can say.
Now, back to the state of Cards of Divinity!
It seems that for the most part, the game managed to get off with only one major bug, which is the Hercules starter ability. I did manage to get back to the code and tried to fix it, but after I uploaded a patch to fix Hercules, the Steam Leaderboards immediately short-circuited, and so as a result I decided that a broken Hercules is a lesser evil than a broken Leaderboard. So now all I can do is give you my profound apologies for letting such an embarrasing bug get past me and reach this point where I can't feasibly patch it without ripping out half the game to redo the steam leaderboards.
If I was to remake the game, I'd surely make some different design decisions so that it is less of a 'numbers-go-up' simulator, but for what it's worth if numbers-go-up and greek mythology are someone's cup of tea, I think the game provides a decent experience for a while.
So, what's next? I am currently working on the Demo for Gemblades, the game I've been working on since releasing Cards of Divinity, and I am extremely excited to hear your thoughts and feedback on it.
If you'd like to join the Playtest or Demo for Gemblades, hop on Discord, and say hi.
Thanks for reading this far. Have a lovely day!
