changedTurn PassIt was a really cathartic experience returning to making content for Cardaire post launch. Things moved a bit faster now, and I was able to move with better purpose having seen a wider audience play and react to the game. You never really know what players will have strong positive OR negative reactions to until the game is in their hands.

changedWhat to ExpectAs much as I would love to make sweeping changes to the in-duel UI or deck editor, the hard truth is that those changes would require a game engine change and remaking the game from scratch. But with that in mind I wanted to do what I can to get the game in the current engine to be as good of an experience as possible.

Turn Pass

Hello seasoned duelists and fledgling card slingers alike, it's aeiou here. Hope you've had a nice December. Me? Well I've been doing my favorite thing - working on game content :)

It was a really cathartic experience returning to making content for Cardaire post launch. Things moved a bit faster now, and I was able to move with better purpose having seen a wider audience play and react to the game. You never really know what players will have strong positive OR negative reactions to until the game is in their hands.

I'm happy to announce I'll be releasing what I've dubbed the"2.0 Update"quite soon. With this update I have two major goals:

  1. Address the most popular piece of feedback I've gotten about the game (looking at you enemy AI)

  2. Add just a lil' bit more post game content

What to Expect

As much as I would love to make sweeping changes to the in-duel UI or deck editor, the hard truth is that those changes would require a game engine change and remaking the game from scratch. But with that in mind I wanted to do what I can to get the game in the current engine to be as good of an experience as possible.

The #1 thing I've seen mentioned as a requested change is improvement to the enemy AI, so that is the major issue I've taken on with this update.

So if you promise to keep your expectations for the update realistic, here are some things that I can promise will be in the update:

(did you promise? thank you, we make a good team you and I)

  • Improvements to the enemy Duel AI that generally scale as you progress through the game

  • Some unlockable cosmetics

  • A new area that offers a bit of post game content for the thirstier grinders

  • A handful of new Steam Achievements

  • A few new music tracks

  • A new (fishing!) minigame

When to Expect It

So when can you expect to get your hands on this fine update? Next year? Next Month?

*does a half hearted drum roll on my leg*

January 17th!

That's right, I'm planning on launching this thing in just about 2 weeks. If something really funky happens with playtesting I'll adjust accordingly, but that's the plan for now!

Here's just a tiny little preview image in the mean time.

In Other News...

That's all I have for the time being Duelists. I'm going to skitter back to my dev cave and get back to work. Here's some other cool Cardaire stuff from the past couple weeks to hold you over.

I Need MORE Single Player Collectable Card Games!

Pan Gaming over on "the youtubes" posted an excellent video breaking down the magic of single player CCGs, with a focus on Cardaire (that's us!). I can't recommend the video enough, go check it out!

Boss Collage

One of our own card artists spacejamtwo (Victoria) sent me some outstanding art for the holidays that I can't help but share with how sweet it is. Check out those duelist pin machines area bosses!
