Card Quest changes
I hope you are all well. We wanted to let you know that after a few years of hiatus we are now full-time indie developers again. It's been a long time since our last announcement and as you can imagine we have many things to tell you.
◙◙◙ 1 - Bug Fixes ◙◙◙
First, we've just fixed a few bugs that were stopping the game from registering when a player had gotten all items with the rogue and fighter, as well as a card overlapping issue on the mobile version and a map bug in the undead campaign. These fixes are already up for the Android version, and will be up on Steam (for both windows and mac) next week.
We are currently in the process of transferring Card Quest to a new publisher, as our old one is closing doors, and this has required us to delete the Card Quest App from IOS and upload it again under the new publisher (as Apple didn't let us do the transfer). This means that unfortunately, old IOS users will not be able to get this patch at the moment. That said however, we will be looking into ways to solve this issue so that old users can still get this last patch if they so want to, which is in all likelihood the last one we'll ever release for Card Quest.
◙◙◙ 2 - Card Quest Remastered ◙◙◙
Second, for all the people that have enjoyed Card Quest during the last few years, we are happy to tell you that we're planning on releasing a remastered version of the game for the final months of 2021. We're still in very early development, so many things might change and there's always the risk that we might need to cut/postpone some features, but if all goes well the new game would be coming with:
◙ New Revamped Art:
We are replacing Card Quest's old graphics with new more professional ones that will make the game look much better while retaining its spirit. These changes will include a complete replacement of all art assets as well as a redesign of its interface and menus to make them more accessible and aesthetically pleasing.
◙ Gauntlet Mode:
We are adding a new very large game mode that more closely resembles the classic roguelike approach. In it you will be starting with no equipment and will have to go through a very large dungeon, and get a chance to find and buy random loot with which to increase your power. This equipment will however, unlike in the normal campaigns, only last for the current run and reset once you die. This mode is quite large and while it will reuse the equipment and enemies from the 3 classic campaigns it is almost like a completely new game in itself.
◙ Mod Support:
We are currently looking into cost-efficient ways to make Card Quest mod-friendly so that other people can make their own campaigns, enemies and cards. While this is not certain at the moment, in our Ideal version of Card Quest Remastered, this would be one of the features we'd like to include.
◙ Localisation Support:
Many have asked us to translate the game into other languages, unfortunately Card Quest was not prepared for that as we couldn't really do it without a considerable amount of work. For this reason we will be making sure this new Card Quest is prepared for localisation so that adding new languages is an easy thing to do.
◙ Improved Training:
We are going to be reworking our "trainings" to make sure they are more accessible and can convey how to best play Card Quest without making it feel like we are beating the player with a mace until they start "thinking right".
◙ General Polish:
We will be fixing many minor bugs, as well as improving texts and balancing whenever possible.
◙◙◙ 3 - Card Survival ◙◙◙
Thirdly, we have a new game to announce, or rather, more like a game series to announce. We are calling it: Card Survival.
This series attempts to capture the survival experience you can find in other games and translate it into a card format, trying to take advantage of the features that such a format can bring. Our idea would be to release different Card Survival games for each type of survival experience (deserted island, below zero, mars mission, zombie apocalypse, etc...). Each game containing 15-30 hours of content (so not as huge as card quest was but still sizeable enough) and each at a very affordable price.
The first in the series is going to be a game called "Card Survival: Stranded Island" and like its name shows will attempt to capture the experience of what it feels like to be stranded on a deserted island. This game is already in an advanced stage of development and will probably be released on early access at some point in the next 3-4 months.
If all goes well we'll be releasing the next instalment in the series later this same year.
◙◙◙
That should be all for now. See you guys in the next announcement!
