changedHey everyone! Big milestone to share – I've just wrapped up an intense development cycle focused on the camera system, UI, and overall polish. The game is feeling so much better now, and I wanted to break down what's changed:
changedNew Orthographic CameraSteam post imageThis was a game-changer (literally). The entire game transitioned to an orthographic camera perspective, and honestly, it's transformed how Canyon Raid feels to play. Controlling the aircraft is so much more intuitive now – positioning and maneuvering across the map feels natural and responsive. Better yet, it accidentally brought the gameplay experience closer to the original River Raid, which I'm really happy about. It's that sweet spot between honoring the classic and making it feel fresh.
changedExpanded Options Menu Steam post imageNot the flashiest feature, I know, but absolutely essential, especially for PC players. The options menu now includes all the important settings you'd expect – graphics, audio, controls, difficulty tweaks, and more. It's one of those things players don't think about until it's missing, so getting this right felt necessary.
changedLocalization FrameworkCurrently, Canyon Raid is available in English and Polish. But I've built the entire localization system with scalability in mind. Expect many more languages down the road – this is just the beginning.
addedAircraft & Progression Trees Steam post imageThree fully unique aircraft are now available, each with distinct stats and handling characteristics. Every plane has its own progression tree, so players can customize their loadout and abilities based on their playstyle. I'm genuinely curious to see which one becomes the community favorite once it's in your hands.

What's Next

Now I'm in the grinding phase – hunting down bugs and refining the experience. It's tedious work, but absolutely crucial. Once I've squashed the critical issues, I'm moving straight into building a demo for the Next Fest (coming up soon!). I'll have more details on that very soon. Thanks for following along on this journey. Wishlisting on Steam really keeps me motivated 💙
