Good day, Community!

The summer sun is shining and we used the energy to improve many features of the game. The game is much more stable now and we managed to clean up our codebase to further enable a smooth development. Moreover, the Gamescom is taking place this week! If you are in the Cologne area feel free to swing by and say hello! As always a big thank you for your continued support and feel free to leave any feedback or report any bugs you might have. We will do our best to bring Calling Home to the next level!

  • Refactored many UI Systems for a significant boost in performance overall

  • Added new sound effects for many interactions in the game

  • Added more feedback to the research table

  • Added more settings options for graphics

  • Added input remapping support for keyboard controls

  • Added a confirmation window to research nodes

General

  • Changed the settings safe structure to be more reliable

  • Changed our highlights to not linger anymore and support inner mesh edges

  • Changed the facility and miner output slots to the same drag structure of other inventories

  • improved loading times overall

  • improved building loading sequence

  • improved chunk mesh generation

  • improved chunk object / point of interest handling

  • improved item icons to better visualize their function

  • improved the build mode for a smoother experience

Balancing

  • Balanced the scan distance for interactables (miners or PoIs) to 128 (prev. 64)

Bugfixes

  • Fixed a bug where many menus did not function correctly

  • Fixed a bug where inventory slots did not function correctly

  • Fixed a bug where settings were not saved between game reloads

  • Fixed a bug where chunk loading took much longer than expected

  • Fixed a bug where objects could spawn under the planets surface

  • Fixed a bug where items would not drop if an inventory was full

  • Fixed a bug where miners did not find their resources after a reload

  • Fixed a bug where droneHUBs did not find their miners or bases after a reload

  • Fixed a bug where the players inventory did not save correctly

  • And many more minor bugs as well!
