It’s with great sadness that I share that Buster, the real-life dog who inspired Buster’s Tower Defense, has passed away peacefully at the age of 14.

This update honors Buster. Buster was more than a mascot — he was the reason this project ever existed. Every bark, every bit of humor, every moment of chaos that defined the game came from him. When I was first experimenting with the earliest prototypes, Buster was always there — sleeping next to the keyboard, barking during recordings, or staring at me with that look that said, “you’ve been debugging for six hours straight, go outside.”

He lived a long, happy, and beautiful life. He brought joy to everyone who met him — both in person and through the game. His spirit shaped everything about Buster’s Tower Defense: the jokes, the explosions, the loyalty, and the heart. Buster reminded us that fun matters, that chaos can be creative, and that love — for a dog, a dream, or a silly tower defense game — is what gives it all meaning.

Buster’s Tower Defense exists because of one good dog and the laughter he inspired.
