addedWhat is Remote Play Together? It's free new feature that allows you to play local multiplayer and local co-op games online with your friends on Steam. To top it off, only one person needs to own and install the game!

addedCheeky tipsWe spent some time during the Beta to stress test the new feature. It was surprisingly good out of the box, with a bit of latency. Tweaking a few settings really helped things run smoothly for us! (FYI we're located in Australia, and our internet can be pretty dicey at times. Your performance may vary)

changedCheeky tipsIn advanced client options, try modifying the bandwidth limit until your latency improves (latency visible via the performance overlay in-game). We found different settings worked better on different PCs in various locations

Cheeky tips

We spent some time during the Beta to stress test the new feature. It was surprisingly good out of the box, with a bit of latency. Tweaking a few settings really helped things run smoothly for us! (FYI we're located in Australia, and our internet can be pretty dicey at times. Your performance may vary)

Go to Steam settings > Remote Play

  • In host options, enable "Prioritize network traffic"

  • Under client options, select "Fast"

  • In advanced client options, limit resolution to "1280x720 (720p)"

  • In advanced client options, try modifying the bandwidth limit until your latency improves (latency visible via the performance overlay in-game). We found different settings worked better on different PCs in various locations

  • Make sure the friend who's hosting has the fastest computer and best internet connection

If you're still running into latency issues, we've found that an external service 'Parsec' offers a similar feature, with next to no latency! We wrote a guide about the free tool on our website: https://briefbattles.com/parsec/

Playing online doesn't quite capture the fun of playing it cheek-to-cheek on the comfort of your couch with friends, though it certainly is a welcome option. We hope these tips help!

Major content updates incoming!

We've been working hard on our first major content update simultaneously with development for our Switch version of Brief Battles.

Our first major update will be totally free, and will be packed with new content, balance improvements, and fixes from feedback. We'll reveal more about this update early in the new year! More free updates will arrive quicker in 2020, once we free up development resources from our Switch port.

In the meantime, have fun with Remote Play Together! May your butt(s) reign supreme 🍑👑
