addedThe Bot Colony update scheduled for June 19 will integrate Microsoft’s Cognitive Services Speech API, a new cloud-based speech recognition technology. Tests at North Side are showing this tech to have super high precision out of the gate, without training. We're keen to evaluate the impact of the new Microsoft technology on the game experience (it could be a real game changer :). During an evaluation period, the new voice recognition tech will be included at no additional cost, replacing the built-in free Microsoft speech-to-text or Dragon. However, we'll need to look closely at incremental sales versus expenses as we progress. This lack of precision of the current voice recognition, its inability to deal with particular accents, impact of noisy environments, ambiguity of what words to assign to particular audio inputs - all posed a formidable problem for Bot Colony: many players bought the game expecting to talk to robots naturally and be understood. Though we're focused on NLU technology development and we're only an integrator of speech recognition, the quality of the overall experience heavily depends on how well speech recognition performs - as many players choose to speak rather than type. Concern about speech recognition negatively impacting the game got so high that in our February 21, 2017 update to Bot Colony players were encouraged to type instead of speaking. The new Microsoft tech will help Bot Colony offer the kind of immersive game experience we always wanted to offer to our players.
