Blades & Battles changes
We have a massive update for Blades & Battles DEMO! Based on player feedback, we've made numerous improvements across gameplay, visuals, and core mechanics. These changes aim to deliver a smoother, more balanced, and more enjoyable experience throughout the game.
Here is the complete breakdown of what’s new in this patch:
🗺️ Stages & Progression
- New Tutorial StageA new interactive tutorial has been added to teach the basic mechanics and systems of the game. But don't be fooled—there are still hidden attacks and advanced techniques waiting to be discovered beyond the tutorial!
- Stage 1 RemasteredThe very first stage of the game has received a complete visual and mechanical overhaul. Backgrounds now feature more animations, enemies has new entrance sequences, and we've polished minor collision issues.
- Brand New Stage & BossWe have completely replaced the stage from our last demo! Explore a brand-new environment and prepare yourself to face a dangerous new boss waiting for you at the end.
🛡️ Combat & Characters
Wake-Up Invulnerability: To prevent unfair chain attacks, players are now invulnerable for 10 frames immediately after recovering from a knockdown.
- Desperation Attack ReworkActivating your desperation attack while taking damage now triggers a purple special move that pushes enemies away. While this mechanic existed before, it now features a distinct visual feedback, alongside with a brand-new aerial version.
🧠 AI & Boss Balancing
Smarter Enemy AI: Behavior has been tuned across the board. Enemies will wander off-screen much less, some now possess dedicated anti-air counters, and aggressiveness is better balanced.
Clearer Attack Telegraphing: Minor enemies now have more anticipation frames on specific attacks, giving you a fairer window to react.
New Boss Stun Mechanic: The Stage 1 "Tank" boss (who is immune to knockdowns and hit stun) now has a Stun Meter. Hitting the boss fills a stun icon above his head; once completely filled, the boss is temporarily stunned and left completely vulnerable for a few seconds.
- Boss TelegraphesThe Stage 1 boss now has more noticeable anticipation on his moves, both in terms of timing and added visual effects.
- Area of Effect (AoE) IndicatorA brand-new visual feedback system has been added to large-scale enemy attacks so you can easily spot and avoid area damage.
⚙️ Input & Settings
Trigger Button Fix: Controller trigger buttons now function properly. By default, the trigger is mapped to picking up items, but you can fully rebind it in the "Options" menu.
Visual Filters: Customize your experience! You can now change the game's visual style in the "Options" menu by choosing between Pixelated, Super Pixelated, or No Pixelation (smooth).
Thank you all for the incredible support and feedback. Dive back in, master the new mechanics, and let us know what you think!
