Hey, everyone! Scoring is an integral part of any arcade-style game, and it plays an important part in the long-term enjoyment of BIRDCAGE as well.

addedENEMY DESTRUCTIONAs you might expect, destroying enemies will add to your SCORE. Simple, classic, elegant. Timeless.
changedCHAININGEnemies destroyed are tallied up in the CHAIN Counter, which must be maintained and increased by shooting and destroying enemies. The value of the current CHAIN acts as a multiplier to all awarded score points. Keep the pressure on! But beware -- taking damage will drop the CHAIN Counter back to zero!
changedPB MEDALSThere are three PB Medals hidden in every stage for you to collect and dramatically increase your SCORE -- and remember, the CHAIN Counter will multiply the value of these Medals as well. Finding all PB Medals will also award bonus points on clearing a stage, so track them all down!
addedTHE SWORDAnd so, the SWORD became the backbone of high-level play in BIRDCAGE. Destroying enemies using the SWORD will greatly increase the value of the score points they'll award, additionally dropping extra Small Medals for you to collect. The SWORD can also absorb Blue bullets, aiding survival and adding to your SCORE.

Scoring is an integral part of any arcade-style game, and it plays an important part in the long-term enjoyment of BIRDCAGE as well. Today we'd like to share some high-level information about the Scoring systems in our game.

ENEMY DESTRUCTION

As you might expect, destroying enemies will add to your SCORE. Simple, classic, elegant. Timeless.

CHAINING

Enemies destroyed are tallied up in the CHAIN Counter, which must be maintained and increased by shooting and destroying enemies. The value of the current CHAIN acts as a multiplier to all awarded score points. Keep the pressure on! But beware -- taking damage will drop the CHAIN Counter back to zero!

HYPER BULLET CANCELING

When in HYPER Mode, enemy bullets will be canceled and turned into Small Medals, which can be collected to increase your SCORE. Trigger HYPER Mode strategically to maximize your scoring!

PB MEDALS

There are three PB Medals hidden in every stage for you to collect and dramatically increase your SCORE -- and remember, the CHAIN Counter will multiply the value of these Medals as well. Finding all PB Medals will also award bonus points on clearing a stage, so track them all down!

THE SWORD

Early on in the development of BIRDCAGE, we realized the game would focus heavily on the SWORD -- it was fun and impactful to use for survival, but we also wanted to find ways to incentivize its use through the game's scoring mechanics.
