A little over 4 months, we started developing Bird of Paradise - our first of the mini series leading up to our flagship, Paperplanes. It is an interactive fiction set to release for PC and Mobile in 2024.
Set in the backdrop of The Bhopal Gas Tragedy of 1984, the player steps into the shoes of two characters, Jheel and Agneya, to uncover fragments of their past through conversations. Jheel is a young lawyer who meets a young doctor, Agneya, while he is volunteering to help the victims of The Bhopal Gas Tragedy. Jheel represents the corporations that are accused of causing the tragedy. In between court and dinner dates, a love blossoms between them only for them to split a few years later.
Every presented choice has a hidden score which reflects the bias inherent in the choice and ever so slightly impacts the connection between Jheel and Agneya. But these small impacts accumulate and eventually determine the fate of Jheel and Agneya. The hidden scores, though, are not pre-determined and adapt depending upon the player's playstyle and the choices they make.
Every choice made affects the various emotional attributes of the characters. Some emotional states lead to points of no return and therefore the player must monitor them and adapt their choices to avoid such scenarios.
Unravel a love story, meet characters who aren't what they say they are and the deeds of the past cast shadows deeper than what is obivious. Piece together the past of Jheel and Agneya entangled in a web of relationships.
