Beyond the Mountains II Sneak Peek

2024 is just about to wrap up, and I am ready to share an update in regards to the sequel to Beyond the Mountains!

As it turns out, no news is good news! The sequel to Beyond the Mountains is about 70% done. A lot of the core elements are completed, and I'm working on polishing the main map while adding story beats and music.

I have some information and new screenshots below. I hope you enjoy this sneak peek! Be aware that there are some story spoilers below. The screenshots below are all modified to avoid massive spoilers.

THE BEYOND THE MOUNTAINS II STORY INTRODUCTION

Wendy, the main character.

The sequel starts sixty years after the events of Beyond the Mountains.

A traumatic past event on the neighboring island of Kearbis has forced Queen Tara to send Gavin as an ambassador of Evalon to rule the land.

After decades of ruling Kearbis, Gavin has suddenly ceased all communication to Evalon. The Queen sends Wendy on a secret mission to Kearbis to find out why.

You will be playing the role of Wendy in Beyond the Mountains II. Wendy is a retired seventy-year-old guard who has a few secrets of her own.

A NEW CONTINENT TO EXPLORE

The island of Kearbis is completely different from the island of Evalon. You will explore forests, deserts, marshes, volcanoes, and many more places.

Two train stations.

Swimming will be a new part of the game play.

The island of Kearbis is larger and better connected than Evalon's island. Fast travel will be organically unlocked via train tracks. You will also be able to swim and use boats to get to hard to reach areas.

LARGER DUNGEONS

There are multiple dungeons and even more mini-dungeons in the sequel. The dungeons in this game are substantially larger than the dungeons in the previous game. The first true dungeon in this game is larger than any dungeon in the first game.

One item will allow you to use electricity to power an elevator.

One item will allow you to hit targets and stun most enemies.

Could this be a circus dungeon?

GAME PLAY

The game play for Beyond the Mountains II is essentially identical to the first game's game play. You will swing a sword, find items, unlock treasures, and discover new paths. This game has many more things to find and rewards for different objects collected.

The sequel will be harder but less frustrating than the first game.

Two items you will collect on your journey are books and train parts.

RELEASE DATE

Like the first game, I am building everything from scratch. I wasn't satisfied with the first build of the sequel so I'm taking the time to revamp large portions of it. As a result, Beyond the Mountains II will be delayed until I am happy with it. I think the game will be completed by the end of next year.

I am really trying to create a beautiful sequel that surpasses the first game in every way. I know it will be worth the wait. The game will be a firm sequel to the first game, so be sure to play the original before tackling the sequel!
