BETRAYED changes
welcome to the BETRAYED 0.9.6 update - "The Inspector Arrives".
This update introduces the new Inspector role, allowing deeper investigation of corpses and the collection of evidence that reveals clues about the Traitor. Major systems have been overhauled, including task management, interaction, and item behavior. New items, weapons, and a minigame have been added, alongside enhanced animations, better performance, and a reworked UI. With more tools for strategy and subterfuge, this is BETRAYED’s most ambitious update yet.
🧑💼 New Roles & Classes
- InspectorA new playable class has been added. Inspectors can access additional information from dead players and assist in identifying the Traitor.
🔍 Investigation & Evidence System
Interactive Corpses: Dead players now spawn an inspectable corpse. All players receive basic info and an image of the deceased. Inspectors see more details. Once reported, the body can no longer be revived or hidden.
Traitor Mechanics: Traitors can hide corpses and revive other Traitors.
Evidence System: Evidence can now be collected to reveal clues about the Traitor. Traitors can destroy evidence to hide their identity.
📋 Task System
A task queue system has been introduced for smoother task handling.
New 3D models for Quick-Time Events (QTE).
A new QTE system with key input has been implemented for more interactive tasks.
🔫 Weapons & Items
Gasoline Bomb (Remote): Can be placed and remotely detonated.
Snapshot Item: Transforms you into a targeted player with the option to revert.
Turret: Automatically shoots other players but not Traitors.
- StoneA simple throwable item added to the arsenal.
🧍 Character & Animations
Fixed wall clipping for FPS and TPS characters.
Most weapons now support ADS (Aim Down Sights).
Recoil and spread now respond to movement, crouching, and ADS status.
New animations for recoil, handsway, rechamber, and shell ejection.
New clothing meshes for male and female Inspectors.
🗺️ Maps & Minigames
New lobby maps added.
New minigame: ChickenCross.
Minigames are now connected to an SQL database and store global highscores.
Existing maps have been overhauled and improved.
🧠 AI & Behavior
Chickens and roosters now have updated sound-based behaviors.
💻 System & Performance
Door logic now handled by the door itself, not the player.
Game timer now syncs every 30 seconds; otherwise runs client-side.
New item pickup class with replicated physics and automatic deactivation after settling.
Improved object placement logic; no more wall placement (except for cameras).
Placement now handled client-side for performance.
🎮 Gameplay Mechanics
Interaction system fully reworked for smoother handling.
New locked room requiring four note clues to unlock via keypad.
New QTE with key input and visual feedback.
Drunken input added with visual effects via post-processing.
Running now affects how weapons are visually carried.
🧩 UI & Widgets
New buff and debuff widgets show active status effects.
Improved in-game widgets for all roles.
New post-processing for spyglasses.

🛒 Shops & Inventory
New Traitor Shop with category sorting.
Inspector Shop added with useful role-specific items.
Inventory system improved with better validation and structure.
🔧 Technical Improvements
Removed hard references; now using interfaces and soft references from a database.
New, smaller PlayerState class for reduced network load.
New damage type “Punishment” does not count toward total damage.
New shell ejection visual effects.
Backup corpse creation added in case of body spawn failure.
Fixed items and grenades clipping through walls or floors.
