I want to give a clear update on the current state of BERENICE and what to expect in the coming weeks.
BERENICE released on Steam about a year ago. Since then, the game has been evolving, and over time it became clear that several core systems needed a more structured and careful revision.
Some of the earlier patches were made too quickly, particularly changes related to controls, which led to inconsistent behavior and, in some cases, made the experience worse. This is currently the top priority to address.
Over the past 4 months, development focus shifted to a new project developed together with the team. It is a 2D game with a distinct visual style, now in the final stage of development (RU Trailer on YouTube) The game has already been released locally, and the Steam page is currently being prepared. There is also a trailer available on YouTube — more details will be shared separately.
This period was important from a development perspective. It allowed for a reassessment of workflows, technical decisions, and overall production approach.
Now, work on BERENICE has resumed, and the remaining development is being completed solo. The focus is on stabilizing and finalizing the game in a consistent and controlled way.
Leading up to the anniversary, updates will be released in parts rather than as a single large patch. This approach allows each change to be properly tested and reduces the risk of introducing new issues.
The first patch will be released in the coming days. It is focused on fixing and stabilizing the control system.
Following patches will address the remaining core areas of the game:
controls (reworked and stabilized)
optimization (already improved, with additional adjustments)
lighting updates
partial location updates
balance adjustments
UI improvements
updated targeting system
enemy AI improvements (only one enemy attacks at a time, others wait)
Full details for each change will be provided in patch notes.
This phase of development is focused on bringing BERENICE to a complete and stable final version — the version it was originally intended to be.
In parallel, communication will become more consistent:
