removedHi Everyone! Before this though, we’d like to acknowledge your feedback on and apologise for our previous ‘Tips & Tricks’ Steam news post . Early feedback indicated that there were certain areas where people were having the most difficulty with, and the post was aimed at providing some clarity on mechanics which we felt we hadn’t communicated well enough in-game. However, we understand this did not come across as intended, and so we have removed the post . Additionally, with our upcoming changes, many of these mechanics discussed will be reworked based on your feedback.
changedRerolling is Too PunishingTo address this, we’re looking at making some tweaks to how rerolling works, to give you greater control and agency over how you interact with your drafts , such as decreasing cost per reroll.
changedThe Draft has Too Many Common CardsWe’re also looking at adjusting rarity odds in mid to late tiers to reduce the number of Common (Bronze) cards in the draft and increase the number of Rare (Gold) and Legendary (Amethyst) cards. Another potential solution we’re exploring is starting from tier 6, you’ll be guaranteed to see 3 different Legendary cards in your first set of cards to further ensure that you have a good chance of finding the powerful cards you’re looking for.
removedRandom Star Cards are BadIt will no longer be possible to get Push from a random source like Comet Catcher, Star Gazing, etc. This means it will only be obtainable from the reward screen, so you’ll only get it when you actively choose it.
changedRandom Star Cards are BadPush will be buffed to only give the enemy leader +1 Health, instead of +1 Health and +1 Attack to make stacking Pushes less risky.
addedToo Many Cards/Builds are Weak in the Late GameWe’re currently working on a way to fix this, but aren’t quite ready to share exactly what that is just yet. It will involve some combination of buffing weak cards, nerfing difficult encounters, and something entirely new !

Hi Everyone!

This is Ben, one of the 3 team members at Feldspar Games and Lead Designer on Become the Moon. I’m writing to let you know that we’ve been carefully reading through all of your feedback and we’re currently working on a game update which aims to improve various aspects of the game. I can’t share the full patch notes yet, as the update isn’t quite ready to be released, but I wanted to share some of the areas we will be addressing in this upcoming patch.

Before this though, we’d like to acknowledge your feedback on and apologise for our previous ‘Tips & Tricks’ Steam news post. Early feedback indicated that there were certain areas where people were having the most difficulty with, and the post was aimed at providing some clarity on mechanics which we felt we hadn’t communicated well enough in-game. However, we understand this did not come across as intended, and so we have removed the post. Additionally, with our upcoming changes, many of these mechanics discussed will be reworked based on your feedback.

Rerolling is Too Punishing

The reroll system is really punishing. I designed it like that on purpose to encourage players to be less picky and take cards they wouldn’t otherwise consider if rerolling was cheap, but clearly the current system is just frustrating, which is not the intention.

To address this, we’re looking at making some tweaks to how rerolling works, to give you greater control and agency over how you interact with your drafts, such as decreasing cost per reroll.

The Draft has Too Many Common Cards

We’re also looking at adjusting rarity odds in mid to late tiers to reduce the number of Common (Bronze) cards in the draft and increase the number of Rare (Gold) and Legendary (Amethyst) cards. Another potential solution we’re exploring is starting from tier 6, you’ll be guaranteed to see 3 different Legendary cards in your first set of cards to further ensure that you have a good chance of finding the powerful cards you’re looking for.

Random Star Cards are Bad

Generating random Star Cards should always be a good thing, but more often than not you’ll get stuck with one or more copies of Push or Call which you don’t want to play and clog up your hand.

To address this, we’re experimenting with the following changes:

  1. It will no longer be possible to get Push from a random source like Comet Catcher, Star Gazing, etc. This means it will only be obtainable from the reward screen, so you’ll only get it when you actively choose it.

  2. Push will be buffed to only give the enemy leader +1 Health, instead of +1 Health and +1 Attack to make stacking Pushes less risky.

  3. Call is being completely redesigned to be more appealing in any situation. We’ll share what this is when the update is available.

Too Many Cards/Builds are Weak in the Late Game

There are a lot of cards that are really fun to play with, but just can’t keep up with 20/20 minions in the late game. This is a pretty big oversight on my part, and I apologize to anyone who’s been trying to win at higher difficulties with Summon builds or On Death builds in particular. It’s possible, but significantly harder and more luck reliant than intended.

We’re currently working on a way to fix this, but aren’t quite ready to share exactly what that is just yet. It will involve some combination of buffing weak cards, nerfing difficult encounters, and something entirely new!

Forced Card Pick

A pure skip option isn’t something that can be added because it will ruin the balance of the tier system, but I’m going to try to see if there’s something that can make not having a skip button feel better for those that really hate not having it. The change to rerolling and the draft odds is one step towards improving this, but there are some other potential changes I’m considering that may make an even bigger difference. I can’t guarantee anything will change with this, but I am certainly going to try to improve the experience for those who really dislike how it currently works.

Of course, many of these solutions are experimental and may be subject to change, however hopefully this gives a bit of insight into how we are looking at addressing the issues you’ve raised.

We really appreciate any and all feedback on Become the Moon, as we are striving to create the best possible experience for all our community. If you have any additional feedback, or if any of your issues aren’t addressed above, please do let us know on our Discord, where you can chat with us directly.

Thank you for reading and for all the support and feedback you’ve shown us so far. We'll keep you posted on any changes as soon as we can.
