Springtime Hotfix!

This is a hotfix/amendment to our previous game update! Usually we regularly upload small fixes without releasing new patch notes for each one but this one introduced a couple changes we thought were worth noting.

fixedThis is a hotfix/amendment to our previous game update! Usually we regularly upload small fixes without releasing new patch notes for each one but this one introduced a couple changes we thought were worth noting.
fixed🚧Fixes and ChangesAddressed extraordinarily long "lag spikes" / "input delay," including situations where it would appear the game took several seconds to respond to input After a lot of investigation we learned this was due to Windows 11 throttling GPU performance. In effect, even if your computer can reliably run the game, Windows 11 may disable the graphics card temporarily to reduce temperature/load, which can then cause the game to stop visually updating, appearing as "input lag" This can typically be disabled in OS/graphics card settings, but we don't blame users for not knowing about this. Our goal was to adjust the game so that users don't need to know about obscure graphics card settings to run the game properly. We were able to improve performance on SSAO effects to a great degree such that more devices should be able to process it flawlessly. We changed default quality settings to reduce SSAO quality on Windows 11 devices by default. We also updated our auto-calibration, adding some extra delay to try to capture whether your device throttles your graphics, so that we can measure your effective FPS more accurately. This means that returning users will have their performance settings recalibrated the next time they boot the game up. We were able to reproduce this issue on a Windows 11 device, then corrected it to the point where we couldn't reproduce it anymore. However, because this is a somewhat unpredictable OS-level issue, we can't guarantee that the issue will be resolved for all users, so we encourage further reports if you continue to encounter this issue.

This means that returning users will have their performance settings recalibrated the next time they boot the game up.

    • We were able to reproduce this issue on a Windows 11 device, then corrected it to the point where we couldn't reproduce it anymore. However, because this is a somewhat unpredictable OS-level issue, we can't guarantee that the issue will be resolved for all users, so we encourage further reports if you continue to encounter this issue.
