Hi everyone!
I've been silently working on this new, big update for the past few weeks, and I am so excited to share it with you!
Special thanks to Finnish streamer Bigi for playing!
New Gem Rush Gamemode!
Say hello to the brand new Gem Rush gamemode, which is all about you and your team racing against the enemies to locate, discover, breach, and capture precious gems for your team.
With three gems in a map, each gem is protected by a hardened safe which will require multiple sticky bombs to breach, and the safe is hidden inside a (randomly generated) dungeon.
Whoever captures the most gems, wins!
New Bot Behavior!
The bots have finally learned how to use the terrain tool, can will now dig tunnels or build briges to where they are trying to get to.
Bots will enter dig tunnels or build briges when:
The navigation point they are trying to reach is normally inaccessible
The navigation point is accessible, but digging/building to it will be significantly shorter and faster
Additionally, bots will follow other bots who are already digging or building to where they themselves are already trying to go.
Lights and Flashlights!
A mole in his cave once said, let there be light! And then there was flashlights, and lights!
Lights have now been added to some existing maps.
Players can now press 'F' to toggle their personal flashlight.
Maps have been made a little bit darker.
End-of-Round Match Voting
Previously, once a round has ended, a simple countdown began and the current map + gamemode were reloaded.
Now, on round end, each player can vote on a selection of four random maps + gamemodes.
Through feedback, I noticed many players didn't notice or realize there are more maps and gamemodes, as the current map and gamemode were simply refreshed.
Now, players will be able to more fluidly experience a greater selection of maps and gamemodes.
Aside from those three big new features, there have also been many more tweaks, changes and bugfixes, listed in detail in the full changelog below.
Roadmap: What Else is Planned?
Without being able to guarantee an exact time for when these planned features will be completed, the rough roadmap of planned features is:
A new, reworked level editor - the current level editor is very rough and unpolished, which until now was okay because I was the only one using it. But in order to allow other players and editors to create in-game levels, as well as eventually uploading them to the Steam Workshop to easily and quickly allow others to play, the level editor is need of a lot of work. So, to this end, I've already began planning a major revamp of the level editor. It's safe to say the new level editor won't look or behave the same at all in comparison to the current level editor. Ultimately, this will help not just me, but others as well to make better, more engaging, and more interesting levels.
Game modifiers - optional modifiers which players will be able to expirement with. Modifiers such as:
Low Gravity Mode
Explosions Galore - players only spawn with rocket launcher, and rocket launcher has shorter fire cooldown and more starting ammo
Big Bullets - all bullets terrain-explosion-crater radius is multiplied
And many more! Do you have a suggestion for a game modifier, leave a commet and let me know!
New weapons! - Not just a new melee weapon, but radically new expiremental weapons which could drastically change the meta and gameplay!
