addedRebellion are delighted to reveal much anticipated remaster of Battlezone (1998) - one of the greatest sci-fi strategy titles ever made (in our opinion)! Watch the Battlezone 98 Redux reveal trailer Launching on Steam for PC this Spring, Battlezone 98 Redux keeps the core rush of first-person action and RTS gameplay that earned widespread critical acclaim, and blends it with remastered visuals, online multiplayer and the potential for near limitless new content with support for Steam Workshop mods!
changedMade by devs from the original Battlezone (1998)As lots of you reading this will know, Battlezone (1998)’s revolutionary gameplay fostered a really strong community that still develops mods for the game to this day. To ensure Battlezone 98 Redux remained faithful to the community, we enlisted the developers at Big Boat Interactive, who include three developers from the 1998 Battlezone game and played a key part in keeping the community alive for 18 years. We’re going to let Mike and the Big Boat guys loose on these community pages very soon, so watch out!
addedRebellion’s first externally developed titleHiring Big Boat Interactive to develop Battlezone 98 Redux marks another significant milestone for Rebellion too! Since we self-published the PC editions of Sniper Elite V2 and Sniper Elite 3 games, Rebellion has changed from “just” being a games studio, to being one of the UK’s largest indie studio and publisher with the multi-format retail release of Zombie Army Trilogy in 2015 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Battlezone 98 Redux represents a new chapter in this journey, the first in a series of Rebellion IP to be developed out-of-house as our internal teams continue to crack on with Battlezone for PlayStation VR, and more unannounced “AAA” titles. So for now, thank you for your support and we hope you’re as excited for Battlezone 98 Redux as we are!
