Battlefield Commander WWII changes
Updated Campaign
The campaign has changed quite a bit. Note, this update will make your old campaign unplayable. You will only have the option to start a new campaign. The biggest change is that instead of having armies that were made up of points (example you could have a 400 point army), you now have three different army types.
There is Infantry, Mechanized, and Armor army types. Each army has a strength of 1-5 on the campaign map. Depending on the army you go into battle with, you will have different units available for deployment.
Infantry armies don't have access to vehicles, except the Germans who have a couple of tanks.
Mechanized has access to all infantry and a variety of vehicles, but not heavy tanks.
Armor has access to all vehicles, but no access to snipers, assault infantry, or flamethrowers.
Infantry armies can move 1 space, while Mechanized and Armor armies can move 2 spaces.
Supply convoys are a new type of unit. Supply convoys can move 2 spaces, and are used to increase the strength of your armies.
There are now a few more industry spaces on the campaign map, and controlling them gives you reinforcement points and allows you to deploy from them. Each industry space must now deploy the reinforcements that it produces (unlike before, where you could deploy all your reinforcements from your capital for instance). You no longer build factories on industry spaces.
Each army type costs a different amount to buy or resupply. Infantry cost 1 per strength, Mechanized 2, and Armor 3. For example, to increase the strength of an Armor army, you must spend 3 supplies to do so.
When buying reinforcements, you can either buy new supplies, or new armies directly. These follow the same costs, and not all industry spaces can produce everything. For example, a 2 value industry space can't produce a 1 strength Armor army, since that would cost 3. You would be able to buy 2 supplies, or a 1 or 2 strength Infantry army, or a 1 strength Mechanized army (or a combo if you have enough points).
When playing a battle, all settings are now automatically chosen. You will be able to see which map and weather you will play with before the battle starts, but you can't edit any of the battle settings anymore.
New Deployment Method
The way requisition points work in battle is also different than before. Previously, you were given all requisition points at the start of the battle. Now each battle you will start with 75 points, and be given new points every minute. In a regular skirmish battle, you receive 25 points per minute. In a campaign, you receive points based on the strength of your army. You get 5 points per strength. So if you have a 3 strength army, you will receive 15 points per minute.
Update Flag Mode
Flag mode has been changed a little bit. Flag areas have been reduced in size, and more flags are on each map. Before, each map usually had 3-4 flags. Now most maps have 6-7 flags. Flags mode is now the default mode in skirmish, but you can still select Battle mode. Battles played in campaign mode will always use Flags mode.
New Maps
This update also includes 10 new maps, all located in the countryside with no buildings. These are playable in both campaign and skirmish battles. More location specific maps are on the way!
New Guide
We have also published a guide for the game, which you can access from the main menu in the game. Here is the link so you can check it out - View on Steam
We would love to hear any feedback you have on this new update!
Next up, Operation Liberty Spear! See you on the battlefield, commander!
