Unfortunately, not every announcement can be a fun one.

My incredible friend Valeria has passed away.

I will be taking some time off from developing Battle of the Bookworms, it will be delayed till early 2026.

What does this mean for the development of Battle of the Bookworms?

I will need some time for myself, meaning that the development will be paused for a small time. I've made great progress in the last couple months and I'm expecting to release Battle of the Bookworms in early 2026.

Which charity? And why 75%?

I'm currently not sure which charity the donations go to yet, suggestions are welcome. I'd like it to be a charity that is trustworthy and is actively fighting against cancer. In the hopes of having a future, where incredible people like Valeria deserve the chance to live their life to the fullest.

The 75% is in case of any hidden costs, etc. that I might encounter. I will donate as much as possible.

What will the cosmetic decoration be and how does it work?

The cosmetic decoration will be a decoration based on one of Valeria's favorite emotes which will be seen on the titlescreen and in-game, most likely attached to your home base. It will be easy to obtain and free for everyone. I'm working together with the artist (Grei) that originally got the commission for the emote from Valeria, on creating this decoration.

My incredible and close friend Valeria has passed away last Saturday (13th of December, 2025).

For the past couple years, she had been battling cancer, which unfortunately has gotten worse these past months.

I've had the pleasure of spending an incredible 8 years of friendship together, and for those 8 years, we talked almost every day.

She helped and shaped me into the person I am today, for that I will always be thankful that we’ve met.

She was one of the sweetest and kindest people I knew, and she will be incredibly missed.

Even though she is no longer with us, she will always remain close to me.

I'm going to miss her a lot.

Battle of the Bookworms notice:

I will be taking some time off from developing Battle of the Bookworms, which means that the release is planned for early 2026.

To help remember and continue spreading her kindness, I will be donating at least 75% of all profits from Battle of the Bookworms to a charity to fight cancer on her behalf. On launch, there will be a cosmetic decoration added based on one of her favorite emote for everyone to obtain. More information about the decoration will be shown when the release date is known.
