Battle of BackYard changes
Commanders, prepare for battle!
In Battle of BackYard, air combat is only part of the fight. With our in-game mission editor, players can shape the battlefield by placing strategic buildings like airfields, command centers, and fuel depots. But these aren’t just for decoration—they’re part of a larger tactical system that adds depth to every mission.
How the Building System Works
Players via mission editor can scatter various buildings across the battlefield to create unique scenarios, but the real magic happens when structures are connected, unlocking new strategic options. Here’re some examples:
Fuel Depots & Airfields – Airfields linked to fuel depots allow planes to refuel mid-battle. In missions with scarce fuel pickups, protecting your depots (and raiding the enemy’s) becomes critical for survival.
Bunkers & Anti-Aircraft Dioramas – AA guns positioned on dioramas will respawn if linked to a bunker. That means taking out enemy bunkers is the only way to permanently remove their anti-air defenses.
Command Centers & Radar Stations – While not in place yet, we’re experimenting with features like command centers providing recon advantages or radar stations highlighting enemy movements.
Building a Better Battle
The mission editor lets players set up their own tactical challenges—whether it’s a chaotic free-for-all or a carefully balanced war of attrition. By controlling resource flow and defensive positions, every mission can feel unique, strategic, and dynamic.
This system is still evolving, and we’re testing different ways to push it even further. Got ideas for how to expand it? Drop your thoughts—we’re listening!
Until next time, build smart, strike hard, and dominate the BackYard!
