In this update, we’ve added a new short-loop track, "Kotaro's Theme #2 ~ Let's Go to Izumo," which plays during map movement in Arcade Mode.

Arcade Mode is designed as a journey from Edo (Tokyo) to Izumo (Shimane), where you defeat bosses across different regions while progressing toward the final destination.

This new track is an arrangement of "Kotaro's Theme #1" and is about one minute long. Originally, it was planned as a practical short loop of around 15 seconds (about 8 bars), but after several iterations, it was expanded into a 32-bar composition.

In-game, the track is intended to play for a short duration (around 10 seconds) during map transitions.

This update also includes improvements to the FM sound, especially in the mid to high frequency range, aiming to bring it closer to the real hardware sound of the RE1-YM2612.

Specifically, we analyzed the waveforms using spectral analysis and refined the emulator's waveform generation based on those characteristics.

As a result, we believe the waveform behavior is now significantly closer to real hardware compared to other publicly available OPN2 emulators.

Technical details are available on GitHub:

As expected, perfectly matching real hardware remains difficult.

In the future, after completing the game, we plan to produce an original soundtrack (OST) that may also include recordings from real hardware.

For now, development will continue with a focus on completing the main game.
