I've got a quick announcement concerning the release of Baldi's Basics Plus version 0.14.2, which will be releasing soon (Most likely on Monday, April 20)! Among other things, this update will change the way control maps are saved so that they can be saved per-save file, instead of all files having to share the same control map. Because of this change, control maps saved from the previous versions of the game will not be carried over (With the exception of custom Steam Input maps; See below).
In order to make the transition to the new system as smooth as possible, I recommend taking a moment to write down or screenshot your current controls so that you can more easily re-assign them to be what you are used to when 0.14.2 releases.
Alongside this change the default control scheme for controllers may change as well, so even if you are currently using the default control scheme for a controller, I still recommend taking note of the current controls so you can easily re-assign those to a scheme you are used to.
Steam Input
If you are using controllers through the Steam Input API (You can determine if you are using the Steam Input API by opening the game and checking the controls screen in options for the "Open Steam Control Mapper" button. If it's visible, that means you are using the Steam Input API), these changes will have no impact on how that system works or on your custom control maps. However, I do plan on updating the default Steam Input control maps in the near future (Not necessarily when 0.14.2 releases). This will be done primarily to add the option to assign buttons for selecting inventory slots 6-9 (When available via stickers), however I am also planning on revising the default control schemes. Because of this, if you are currently using an unmodified official layout for Baldi's Basics Plus, I recommend saving a copy of that control layout so that it will not be changed when I update the official layouts.
I'm not entirely sure what will happen when the official layouts are updated. My assumption is that existing users currently using those layouts will immediately receive the updated versions. I want to be on the safe side here, so that's why I'm recommending people make copies of the default layouts if they are using them and they want to continue using them.
Conclusion
That's all I wanted to share! 0.14.2 will bring a handful of other QOL changes to the game, but I wanted to let you all know about the controls in advance to lessen the inconvenience of the control maps resetting. Please prepare accordingly, and thanks for understanding!
