changedThe beta release includes the first chapter of the game. We are excited to get feedback from the community on the beta release. Please feel free to post your thoughts on our Discord server or Steam forums.
changedBe mindful that the playtime included with the beta could be a little short for your liking the reason for that will be explained below.
changedOur priority will of course be to fix the bugs that have been encountered during Alpha gameplay and hopefully shape the game according to player feedback.
changed⚒️ Content Creation and Workshop Support! ⚒️
addedWe have been working on an amazing tool that we are so excited to share with the creators out there, the full 0.1 release of the Backdoors will be shipped with a fully built content editor . With this tool, content creators will be able to make their own levels, entities, and items and share them on the Steam Workshop . In fact, all the levels present in the beta version of the game have been built on the same content editor . We want to make sure to tweak and fix all we can before putting this tool out since losing user-created content would be the last thing we would like so we wanted to use this beta test opportunity to test our content editor tool.

Roadmap

Feedback and Fixes from Alpha Test

Our priority will of course be to fix the bugs that have been encountered during Alpha gameplay and hopefully shape the game according to player feedback.

⚒️ Content Creation and Workshop Support! ⚒️

We have been working on an amazing tool that we are so excited to share with the creators out there, the full 0.1 release of the Backdoors will be shipped with a fully built content editor. With this tool, content creators will be able to make their own levels, entities, and items and share them on the Steam Workshop. In fact, all the levels present in the beta version of the game have been built on the same content editor. The content editor is Unity-based and does even allow pre-baked lighting scenes to be loaded at runtime we cannot wait to see how gorgeous levels you guys will come up with!

An image of the Level Manager present in the Content Editor, this tool can be used to not only create single rooms (which then can be added into the procedural generation) but can also be used to create whole chapters and levels

We make use of the ScriptableObjects structure present in Unity to handle all item properties and associated data
