Back in Service: a Metro Driver changes
The launch of our game on Steam is approaching very quickly. Let’s take a look at what’s ahead and what we’re currently working on.
New Stations
We’re currently focusing on extending the line to Želivského. All the stations are already modeled and textured. Now we need to do a lot of programming, build tracks, tunnels, turning points, and implement everything into the game. We’ll gradually showcase all the stations. Let’s start with Jiřího z Poděbrad.
Hostivař Depot
Hostivař Depot will be a big project, so we’re working on it gradually whenever possible. At the moment, we’re focusing on the track layout and track construction. As you can see in the picture, it’s quite a challenge. :-)
Procedural Switches
While working on the depot track network, we realized we needed to speed up the creation of switches. Until now, we’ve been making each one manually, which is very time-consuming. Our programmer, Space Worthy, started working on procedural switches, and the results are fantastic. Creating a switch now takes just a few minutes, and the quality is perfect! This is currently helping us significantly with the line extension.
81-71
Yes, work on the long-awaited 81-71 trainset is progressing according to plan. We’re fine-tuning the last details on the model and will then start programming. We’ll gradually share more details. Since many of you have already found Jarda, you can see him here taking a test run with Doubravec.
Sounds
Not only does the mentioned 81-71 need sounds, but the EČS also deserves an audio upgrade. We’re very grateful to the Prague Public Transit Company for allowing us to record new sounds for the game. We can already say that this will be a big improvement, significantly enhancing the authentic driving experience!
As you can see, there’s still a lot of work to be done, but it will be worth it!
We kindly ask you to be patient. We don’t want to rush anything, and each of these steps requires dozens or even hundreds of hours. We’re all excited about the result. Thanks to your contributions, this is possible, and work is progressing at this pace.
Thank you very much!
