From the earliest beta testers to every player who jumped in since, your feedback has been incredibly helpful. The bug reports, the suggestions, and the feedback left after play sessions; they shaped what Aztecs is today.
Here's what you told us, and what we did about it.
More Ways to Play
The feedback was clear: some players wanted to enjoy the story and world without the pressure of survival, while others wanted to be pushed to their absolute limit. We heard both camps.
Two entirely new game modes have been added based on what you asked for.
Sandbox Mode drops the main story and side quests entirely, replacing them with a new Valley of Mexico map layout and a single goal: survive as many nights as you can. Creative Mode removes resource limits and survival mechanics altogether, giving you free rein to build the city you've always had in mind.
Beyond that, two new difficulty levels are now available.
Relaxed mode takes away the economic pressure and softens the night difficulty, which lets you focus on the story and your city at your own pace. On the opposite end, Doom mode removes the Pause feature entirely and cranks the challenge to its maximum.
And if you want to show off, Photo Mode has been added inside Creative, so you can capture your settlement in its full glory.
New Content to Discover
For those asking "what's next after the main story?" we've got an answer.
An epilogue now wraps up the storyline, featuring a brand new area to explore in the Valley of Mexico filled with resource locations, lore notes, and a final temple with riddles to solve
Players who felt they'd hit a ceiling with their buildings will also find something new in the Technology tree: a new perk unlocks a 4th level for select buildings, boosting production output, worker capacity, and resource generation speed.
Polish Across the Board
Beyond the bigger additions, your reports gave us a clear picture of where you felt unnecessary friction in the game. Every bug report, piece of written feedback, and edge case you dug up after hours of play went directly to work. They helped us identify interface elements that were hard to find, buildings that weren't behaving as they should, and stability issues that broke the flow of play.
Those are the things we've been fixing, and we're sure you will have a better experience.
All of this lands next week, and we couldn't be more thankful to all of you who were a part of this journey.
We honestly can't wait for you to see Aztecs in its full glory!
