The resource paradox: sources of prosperity and eternal conflicts

Humanity key resources (gold, oil, etc.) are sources of wealth and prosperity, but the paradox is that they are also sources of conflict. We wanted to highlight this paradox in our game through aurionite.

In the fantasy world of Aurion, a mysterious and powerful material called Aurionite emerges from the crystallisation of aurion, a spiritual energy that permeates the earth and gushes out in the form of magnificent stones. These gems are the source of many wonders and problems for the inhabitants of Aurioma.

The Hekimas, enlightened craftsmen, have mastered the art of extracting Aurionite from the bowels of the earth and shaping it. They can channel and purify aurion energy, awakening the potential of every stone they touch.

Aurionite mining is the most important industry on the planet Aurioma, propelling the continent of KAH-ISAO to the pinnacle of power thanks to its extraction mines. However, this wealth has led to some worrying excesses.

Greed for this rock has led to human exploitation in the mines, overexposure to Aurion's energies, overexploitation of the soil, environmental degradation and the proliferation of counterfeit products. The quality of Aurionite varies according to a number of factors, including its original environment, crystal purity, age and alloy. However, the most decisive factor is the craftsmanship of the Hekima who work it. The purity of the light emanating from an Aurionite, its physical durability and, above all, its durability in use are essential criteria for judging the craftsman's work.

On Aurioma, almost everyone uses Aurionites in their daily lives: housewives for their household chores, farmers to improve their crops, breeders for the health of their animals, and artists to enhance their art.

However, the sector where Aurionite is most ubiquitous is warfare. The weapons and armour of Aurionic warriors are strengthened by this stone, giving these fighters extraordinary abilities. Aurionic warriors and shamans use Aurionites to stabilise and channel their Aurion, enabling them to effectively manifest phenomena or elemental energy during confrontations. As warriors and shamans use up their Aurionites, they become depleted, forcing these powerful fighters to replace them regularly to maintain their strength.

Faced with this growing dependence, some Hekimas set out to find ways of processing Aurionite in a more sustainable way, while preserving the ancestral traditions of their craft. A struggle for the conservation of Aurion and the Aurioma ecosystem is emerging, seeking a balance between the magical power of Aurionite and the preservation of nature.

Aurionite remains a fascinating enigma, a symbol of the power and spirituality that unites the people of Aurioma, while confronting them with profound ethical and environmental dilemmas.

Beyond its role in political and military affairs, Aurionite also embodies the hope of preserving the balance between living beings and the spiritual energies that animate them.
