Hey Wranglers,

This month was all about making the void feel real and giving you better tools to survive it.

The sky above

The skybox got a full rework. You'll now see a milky way band stretching across the sky, spiral galaxies in the distance, and nebulas adding color and depth. Space finally looks like space.

Everything has texture now

Flat colored blocks are gone. Everything is PBR now. Proper materials with roughness, metallic, normal maps, the works. Ships, asteroids, station parts, it all catches light the way it should.

Cockpit view

You can now sit inside your ship. The cockpit has a first-person interior with a live map display built into the console. There's also a new 3rd person orbit cam if you want to admire your build from the outside.

Active scanning

Asteroids no longer just show up in a list. You now actively scan for them. Send out a radar ping, discover. It makes finding the good rocks feel like actual prospecting instead of picking from a menu.

3D sector map

The sector map is now a full 3D interactive view. Navigate it, plan your routes, find your targets.

Mining & wrestling

The mining laser now has bloom and an improved crack effect on blocks as you break them apart. The asteroid wrestling HUD got reworked too. You can now see force and spin readouts while you're trying to wrangle a rock. The harpoon also got a better rope and a new 3D model for the head.

Ship building

More block shapes for building your ships. More shapes = more cursed builds. We support this.

Debris

Chunks that break off asteroids are now more randomly shaped instead of too uniform. Small thing, but it makes destruction feel way more satisfying.

Thanks for following along. More next month.
