Ardent Wilds changes
Patch notes for game version 0.5.9 (June 10, 2026)
World & Generation
Added pre-generated worlds so new games load faster without live worldgen.
Runtime worldgen has been temporarily disabled as it caused some issues on certain older hardware. (Though it will keep functioning for old worlds.)
Added main menu UI for selecting and loading pre-generated worlds.
Improved floating island generation in the Plains biome, and added some new rewards to them.
Mining & Digging
Reworked digging/mining — smoother targeting, faster digging, and improved behavior.
Improved Shovelpick placement gizmo so it doesn't obscure what you're doing as much.
Updated terrain mining durations and tool tier requirements for several voxel types.
Combat & Abilities
Added Poison Dagger Throw ability with new VFX.
Added visual model for the Poison Coated Shiv.
Added Magic Missile VFX and SFX.
Added wind, frost, poison, and fire hand-casting SFX.
Fixed Shockwave ability VFX and SFX.
Improved Rend ability VFX.
Fixed fireball SFX.
Fixed targeted ability telegraphs not rendering on ceilings.
Fixed swimming direction being locked to forward while casting abilities.
Added ability icons for Hoe, Shockwave, and Teleport.
Intro, Quests & NPCs
Fixed the House Party quest not completing when talking to or summoning Elder Krug.
Tweaked Krell NPC casting animations.
Fixed intro dialog lore text in several places.
Polished the intro sequence with some new animations, dialog and props.
Fixed multiple bugs in the intro scripting.
Mines & Minecarts
Updated mine POI visuals, cobwebs, improve rail trackbed colliders, and cave generation noise.
Changed some mine interior visuals.
Improved minecart behavior and added minecart SFX.
Added ability icons related to minecart-related changes.
Audio
Added water, swimming, door opening, and chest opening SFX/VFX.
Added Zyrrhak boss fight music.
Fixed many SFX category assignments so sounds play in the correct contexts.
Added area-based audio reverb for more atmospheric sound.
Added various UI interaction sounds.
Fixed audio tracks sometimes ending prematurely.
UI & Menus
Updated main menu with a new game logo and layout fixes.
Added a dark background behind dialog text for better readability.
Fixed dialogs incorrectly appearing when the speaking entity is out of range.
Added "Coming Soon" labels to some unavailable crafting recipes.
Updated app icon.
Fixed some minor UI rendering issues when textures haven't loaded yet.
Fixed some UI layout issues in certain menus.
Visuals & Models
Fixed a lot of models incorrectly receiving decals (projected textures, telegraphs, ...)
Updated VFX for poison dagger throw.
Improved visuals for several abilities.
Miscellaneous Bug Fixes & Stability
Fixed slimes and other creatures sometimes facing the wrong direction.
Fixed lantern rope length behavior.
Fixed an issue where mobs would not appear to have certain status-effects client-side, causing a desync in max-HP and some similar issues. This primarily affected creatures spawned by the Wave-based Aetherium Conflux.
Improved physics behavior to allow stepping over small obstacles to reduce players & creatures getting stuck.
