Archer: The Witch's Wrath changes
Hello everyone!
Archer: The Witch’s Wrath is an especially complicated title for us, because we have a lot of ideas how to make interesting and extraordinary. There are lots of changes coming, especially in terms of f in-game mechanics and we would like to share our plans with you.
The weather
At the very beginning, when our game was just a concept on a piece of paper, we were planning to have winter as the only season throughout the adventure. However, with time we decided that it will be necessary to add the rest of them as well, in order to avoid repetitive and boring gameplay. We want you to perceive weather like an enemy or a friend - depending on how fast you adapt to the changing conditions.
Rain and wind mechanics are being tested at the moment. They are checked multiple times, so we know that real-life physics work in the game world properly. For example: when it rains, arrows get soaked and fletchings stabilizing their flight don’t work properly, so it’s much harder to hit the target. Wind affects the arrow's trajectory by altering its speed, so you will have to use arrows of different weight to counter this effect.
Fun fact of the day: did you know that it's better to use fletchings made from water birds’ feathers? It’s because they have specific type of feathers that protect from moisture and dry way faster.
And don’t worry - there’s much more elements to come!
Think outside the box
You learned that water and wind can cause problems. It’s hard to aim when the weather conditions are against you, but is there really nothing you can do about it?
🏹 Water makes arrows heavier, so you have to shoot them higher than usual to hit the target. 🏹 Wind may push your arrow in the different direction - you need to learn how to neutralize its impact. 🏹 Sky's the limit, real archers have to deal with such problems by coming up with unusual solutions on their own, so do you (it’s a realistic simulator after all!).
Next There’s still a lot to talk about, so keep an eye out for our next update on our development progress!
