Arcana: Card Arena changes
Steam Development Update – December 2025
Dear Community,
With Steam Festival approaching, we have reached a major milestone in development. The game is now content-complete in terms of card design and visual identity, and we are entering the final phase of polish, localization, and balance refinement. Below is a detailed overview of the latest progress.
Card Art & Design – Fully Completed
Every card in the game now has its final artwork, HP/ATK values, and special effects implemented.
Card back customization system is live: players can select and equip different card backs.
Hero-themed card fronts introduced: Rubi’s cards feature a unique icy visual treatment, with similar thematic enhancements planned for other heroes.
Card Pool Expansion
The Common card set has been expanded from its original size to 53 cards, significantly increasing strategic variety and deck-building options.
- Xena, our second-ever created hero, has received a comprehensive overhaul10 new cards added, existing cards rebalanced, text revised for clarity, and select artwork refreshed to match current quality standards.
Visual and Presentation Improvements
Major texture overhaul for Rubi, Xena, and the entire Common card set.
Implemented an internal card gallery screenshot system that produces perfectly clean, consistent images (now used for the official website gallery).
Arena rewards interface completely redesigned: displays all 8 chest tiers with interactive tooltips showing exact reward probabilities.
Official website refreshed with a new News section and updated background imagery.
Arena & Progression Systems
The Arena mode is now feature-complete; final balancing of the reward structure is underway to ensure long-term engagement and fairness.
A dedicated Steam Festival Battle Pass has been added to the public demo (20 levels). Progression unlocks additional playable characters and exclusive cosmetic rewards, giving festival players a meaningful sense of advancement.
Gameplay & Systems
Card Buffs system completely rebuilt from the ground up – now far more consistent, readable, and prepared for future content.
Numerous new card effects added as part of the upcoming (free) expansion set.
Substantial AI improvements for both Rubi and Punky decks: better threat assessment, deeper search depth in complex positions, and more human-like decision making.
Arcanis now behaves exactly as originally designed and documented.
User Interface
Stat changes are now clearly communicated through color coding:
Increases to Attack or Health appear in green.
Decreases to Attack appear in red.
Current Health below maximum appears in red.
Critical Bugs Resolved
Prevented opponents from activating Hero Power multiple times per turn.
Fixed incorrect interaction between Mana Druid and Sheepify.
Corrected multiple card detail window issues with new icons.
Resolved targeting and selection bugs with certain spell cards and land cards.
Eliminated various Hero Power cooldown and activation inconsistencies.
Fixed widespread texture conflicts across devices and resolutions.
Localization Status
English → Spanish translation is essentially complete but will not be included in steam fest release.
Once the full translation pass is done, additional languages will follow according to community demand.
What’s Next Immediate focus: final localization verification, minor balance tweaks, and performance optimization for the Steam Festival demo build. The card pack opening experience has also been significantly improved internally (full implementation will be available after the festival).
Thank you for your continued support and valuable feedback throughout development. We are proud of how far the game has come and are excited to welcome many new players during Steam Festival.
See you on the battlefield.
