Repeated intro
Hello everyone, wanted to give a quick update on how I am progressing on the new Arcadian Days update! A lot of work is done on both performance and general gameplay, as well as making the world seem more alive!
What changed
- Performance
- UI and audio
- Gameplay
- Store
- Compatibility
Arcadian Days changes
Crash issues diagnosed and fixed.
The frustrating crashes that are happening particularly when travelling to Ult Plain have been thankfully diagnosed and fixed, so crashes overall should not occur anymore.
DLSS Support!
The new update will add DLSS support for NVIDIA cards! This should help those with performance and I am also looking into adding upscaling for AMD cards, however as I am making the game on an NVIDIA graphics card this might take some time!
New Graphics options - Ray Tracing On and Off
You will be able to choose between toggling ray tracing on and off that should significantly boost FPS at a very small graphical compromise.
New Ways to Interact with the World!
As always, the aim of Arcadian Days is to make it as immersive as possible, hence new ways to interact with the world while keeping menus and UI to a minimum. You can now read new books and carvings that will serve as both world lore and hints to progress with different quests.
New Location - Bucaz Hill
A location you've probably visited in the demo, this location will serve as both a brief tutorial and returning location once you progress and gather new items to explore all the different areas, including new ruins...
The world is starting to feel more alive
Cute and dynamic events are being added to make the world feel more alive and incentivize curiosity! Flock of sheep being watched over by Dada, little rabbits running around, the cute cow Bulbica grazing near the cart... Bucuria is feeling more welcoming! Please remember, the animals are very much in super early development and some models have been bought from the store (no gen AI as promised) until eventually I can hopefully make them fit the world better.
A bigger house with a more clear main path
The Dragobete house has had a big makeover that both gives it more space but also new opportunities to expand. As you progress through different quests, you will see the homestead grow with new decorations, buildings that will trigger new quests.
Furthermore, whilst the game will remain very hands-off, the 'main quest' should be significantly easier to follow, with more world hints and guidance. Of course, the full body of the game is the little quests and curiosities you discover as you explore, and those are for you to figure out...
And so much more...
The new update has been under a lot of work and it is almost a sequel sized expansion for the game. Initially i was planning to have it finished this month but it might not be feasible as testing is taking much longer than expected! I am currently in the process of creating a 'Beta' branch for those who have bought Arcadian Days already so we can expand and improve the game together! As always, will continue to update everyone regularly, thank you so much for your support!
