New version 25.04.04

The spring update is here! Keep in mind that this is the second to last update for preview alpha. There's going to be one more (not counting hotfixes) and then I'm going to fully focus in the rewrite.

  • Focused Social Science Research

  • Studio Apartments

UX

  • Vehicles in logistics office can be selected by holding shift while clicking on them.

  • Selecting needed colonists in stasis screen now removes colonists from the selected list if there's more than needed.

  • Added new building category to build menu (Research). Moved labs there.

  • Enabled map overlays are saved and re-enabled on reload.

  • Added a hotkey for toggling planning mode (P).

  • Allowed number of autosaves to be set to higher amounts, even unlimited.

  • No longer notifying the player that packed vehicle reserves are running out (as they're not consumable).

Technical

  • Colonists are less selfish when choosing apartments and mostly attempt to leave too large ones for families who need them more, especially when retired. They still prefer too large apartments over too small, though.

Balance

  • Rebalanced some tech requirements. Mostly made them easier.

  • Added law for disallowing eating palm oil, so that it can be used for soap.

  • Lowered loading time penalty for low productivity storage, especially at 75% and 50%.

Fixes

  • Crash when a small power grid ran out of power after the reactor was cycled off and on, related to showing of tutorial that was added in last update. Could happen even if tutorial was turned off.

  • Children and retired could be manually assigned to work, causing a crash in the case of children.

  • Rare crash during construction office shift change.

  • Rare crash when clicking on a notification pin.

  • Rare crash related to movement.

  • Shuttle could disappear and then cause a crash when the game saved if sent on a mission or rebased to the same tile it originated from.

  • Rocks could be generated outside of explored area, causing a crash when the sector was explored. Cause unknown, but a failsafe was added.

  • Freeze when a mine attempted to mine a deposit that had exactly 0.01 of a resource left and grade lower than 50% (was supposed to be fixed in version 24.10.10, but the fix wasn't working correctly).

  • Some map tools could be activated on the map below when the button to turn them off was pressed.

  • Students in observatories had their productivity calculated wrong, resulting in much lower graduation rate than intended.

  • Bus stops could be landscaped, resulting in various bugs.

  • When the colony was running long enough (50+ years), time could stop at 1x speed because of floating point errors.

  • Clinics could show overcrowded icon even when they were off and there was no one inside.

  • Landscaping icon could be obscured by terrain when a neighbouring tile was landscaped.
