changedBaliskins are lizards that have adapted to feed off sunlight, often found basking on tropical beaches where they absorb large amounts of energy. Their spines, green from photosynthesis, store around 10,320 volts of electrical energy (about the amount stored in an electric fence), with each spine holding approximately 860 volts. This surplus of energy enables baliskins to perform remarkable defensive feats: they can launch their spines in self-defense or discharge a powerful 9,460-volt plasma burst, which leaves them temporarily exhausted. These abilities make baliskins nearly self-sufficient, and their intimidating appearance serves to ward off potential predators.
changedHookwings embody the phrase “biting off more than you can chew.” These remarkable creatures dive at incredible speeds, using their hard, bowl-shaped beaks to scoop up fish. Their signature "hooked wings" defy physics, rotating in a circular motion like a hummingbird's to hover momentarily before making sharp dives into the water. However, a hookwing’s real secret lies in the unique design of its wings and beak. If pulled underwater, it can store air in its beak and release it in a jet-like stream, propelling itself through the water at speeds up to 20 miles per hour. Afterward, it returns to its usual routine, swiftly scooping fish from the water’s surface.
changedThe orchid is an energetic, forest-dwelling creature known for its fiery hunting methods and obsessive grooming habits. Its floating mane generates enough friction to ignite small fires, which it uses to flush out insects hiding in tree bark. Despite their potential for destruction, these fires rarely threaten the forest, as other creatures—such as water-bearing reptiles and moisture-manipulating plants—quickly step in to douse the flames. This balance has made the orchid's fire-starting a natural part of the ecosystem.
changedOrchids are also highly vain, spending significant amounts of time grooming their manes, which are essential for both attracting mates and survival. In territorial disputes, male orchids target each other's manes rather than using fire, as a damaged mane signals vulnerability. A well-groomed mane is a symbol of strength, while losing one leaves the orchid unable to hunt or defend itself, marking its downfall in the wild.
changedMegsquitos possess the unusual ability to phase in and out of dimensions, enabling them to summon reinforcements when threatened. Their venom is unnaturally potent, capable of inducing hours-long nightmares in their victims, and their proboscis harbors multidimensional bacteria. Fortunately, megsquitos have a vulnerability: at room temperature and below, their venom solidifies, causing them to fall from the air and perish.
changedOn the surface, buzzels appear to be harmless little fish, and for most sea creatures, they are. But when land animals wander too close to shore, they must be wary of these brightly colored beasts of the sea. When a buzzel senses surface ripples, they enter a frenzy, striking at the source of the disturbance. Usually traveling in packs of five, they leap from the water with powerful force, dragging their prey beneath the waves. Each pack has its own unique choreography, but the goal remains the same: pull the target underwater, drown it, and devour it.

Hey everyone!

We are so excited to be included in the Creature Collector Fest! During the week, we will be dropping some dev logs about the game.

Today we want to talk about the starting beasts in Alchemic Beasts! You've seen them all on the key art and maybe even through some of the videos that we put out, but now we're going to officially talk about them!

In Alchemic Beasts, we have a system of beasts that are based on elements and types:

Elements -

*Void and celestial elemental beasts are rare, the latter being super rare.

Types -

Baliskin

Baliskins are lizards that have adapted to feed off sunlight, often found basking on tropical beaches where they absorb large amounts of energy.

Hookwing

Hookwings embody the phrase “biting off more than you can chew.” These remarkable creatures dive at incredible speeds, using their hard, bowl-shaped beaks to scoop up fish.

Orchid

The orchid is an energetic, forest-dwelling creature known for its fiery hunting methods and obsessive grooming habits.

Orchids are also highly vain, spending significant amounts of time grooming their manes, which are essential for both attracting mates and survival. In territorial disputes, male orchids target each other's manes rather than using fire, as a damaged mane signals vulnerability. A well-groomed mane is a symbol of strength, while losing one leaves the orchid unable to hunt or defend itself, marking its downfall in the wild.

Megsquito

Megsquitos are a unique breed of mosquito that appeared seemingly out of nowhere and swiftly out-competed their relatives, becoming an invasive species in many swamp ecosystems. Their rapid spread has led to significant ecological shifts, forcing entire ecosystems to adapt. The only predator capable of preying on them is the murkin, though even murkins become intoxicated from the megsquito’s potent toxins and are left stumbling around in daylight.

Megsquitos possess the unusual ability to phase in and out of dimensions, enabling them to summon reinforcements when threatened. Their venom is unnaturally potent, capable of inducing hours-long nightmares in their victims, and their proboscis harbors multidimensional bacteria. Fortunately, megsquitos have a vulnerability: at room temperature and below, their venom solidifies, causing them to fall from the air and perish.

Buzzel

On the surface, buzzels appear to be harmless little fish, and for most sea creatures, they are.

Shellodon

Shellodons are a peaceful species, preferring to conceal themselves within their impenetrable stone shells, which provide natural, formidable protection. These amphibians drag their shells onto land to keep their bodies moist while they search for their favorite plants. First sighted near ocean-side craters, shellodons gradually spread out over vast distances, becoming so rare that encountering one is uncommon. When discovered, they are easily lured out by the scent of their favorite food, the gigandus. The gigandus is a sparse fern that grows only around Mizu. When trained, shellodons make ideal bodyguards due to their unwavering loyalty and long lifespans, often living for decades.

Whew! This was quite a long one! Thank you for reading! Let us know what you think!

What starter would you choose? I've personally have been starting with the megsquito. I don't know, something about its colors and the whole void thing it has going on has me intrigued!

Thank you all for your support! Stay tuned for more!
