The Crucible II delivered one of Albion’s wildest competitions to date. After one of the tightest finishes imaginable, Zizaran and Road to Exile defended the title over Diables and Burzyny in a final weekend that turned the leaderboard into complete chaos.

For days, the two traded the top spot back and forth, at times even matching each other point for point. By the final stretch, entire guilds were reorganizing their plans in real time just to squeeze out every last bit of progress possible.

“It was pretty crazy,” said Zizaran after the event. “Every time we got behind we had to try to motivate everyone to go harder.”

That pressure reached its peak during the final hours of the competition, when his team noticed a sudden surge in points coming from Knightfall Abbey activity on Diables’ side.

“At first we thought they had found a bug,” he explained. “Then we realized they were just slamming Abbeys hard.”

What followed was an emergency meeting, a complete pivot in priorities, and sixteen straight hours of nonstop Abbey runs as both sides pushed themselves to the limit. And somehow, after all of that, only 15 points separated them!

Want to hear directly from the champion? Join us on AlbionTV (twitch.tv/albiononline) on May 13 at 19 UTC for a live interview with Zizaran, where we’ll look back on the madness of The Crucible II, the final race against Diables, and what it took to defend the crown.

A Global Battlefield

While the fight for first place dominated the spotlight, the race across the rest of the leaderboard was just as intense.

French creators practically staged a full-scale invasion of the top 20. Youby4 and ShojiFR secured third place with Dokodo, while teams like Instinct, JOBLIFE, LES GOBRIATES, Solary, and POURFENDEURS kept France heavily represented across the top ranks.

Elsewhere, creators from across the world fought to carve out their own place in Crucible history. Frogwide carried the British banner into fifth place behind BagginsTV and company, while RRaenee and GAGARAGOGO mobilized a massive Turkish community to secure sixth. Korean creators pushed DOKDO into the top 20 on Albion Asia, while REVENANT, Metashi12, jaskol95, CAHOS_GAMING, and DarthMicrotransaction all secured strong finishes for their communities.

And amidst the chaos, there was Josh Strife Hayes. Throughout the event, he repeatedly warned Zizaran that he was coming for the crown. Meanwhile, he spent most of the competition peacefully axing his way through solo dungeons, seemingly unconcerned that an actual esports tournament was happening around him. Somehow, he still made the top 20. What a legend!

The Rewards

The Crucible II’s rewards were every bit as dramatic as the competition itself. Zizaran now adds a real-life Kingmaker sword to his collection alongside last year’s Galatine Pair, while Diables and Youby4 / ShojiFR walk away with forged Twin Slayer daggers, all handcrafted by the master blacksmiths at That Works.

At this point, Zizaran can probably build his own Armory.

“I’m actually so excited to get another sword,” he said, “but can you guys do an armor set next time? I only need so many swords.”

Alongside the forged weapons, contributing members of the top 10 guilds earned an exclusive Crucible II Avatar Ring, while creators across the top 20 received Twitch subscription rewards to share with their communities.

More Than Just a Competition

Part of what made The Crucible II special was the sheer variety of moments it created. There were intense strategy discussions and all-night grinding sessions, but there were also dance battles, community jingles, and improvised roleplay. For seventeen days, Twitch, Kick, Naver, and Discord were flooded with communities learning the game together, pushing for points together, and occasionally losing their minds together.

If you missed some of the chaos or just want to relive it, Albion Bard and Hyrst have you covered with recap videos, highlights, and some of the most memorable moments from the competition.

As for Zizaran, don’t expect him to disappear quietly just yet.

“If it lines up well with ARPG seasons and I have time to play, I will likely return for another one,” he said. “Thank you for having me and for ruining my sleep for 3 weeks.”

Congratulations once again to our winners, and to everyone who dared to step into the Crucible. We hope to see you on the battlefield again soon!
