Server Status: Mostly Behaving! 🔪

The server issue identified earlier this week is mostly resolved! Players should be able to play AI2U smoothly.

You may still occasionally see the NPCs repeating their fixed placeholder lines thrice before pulling out the big knives, including the Catgirl’s notorious: “ Don’t say that! That makes me embarrassed. ”

Server-wide errors are quite rare and often don’t last this long. Even our GIFs showing them in action are dated! We never even GIF’d the siren’s “puny human” variation aww...

... Well, you know the drill. 💖🔪

Based on our team’s investigation, this error is not caused by AI2U’s game server, but is related to our LLM service via Gemini. We are still monitoring its status and actively preparing backup plans and solutions to better alert players in future cases.

We appreciate all the reports and active discussions during server hiccups, and wanted to share lovingly-yandere reminders to our AI-savvy players who are new to our dev journey:

• Local LLMs: AI2U’s setup can’t effectively implement local LLM support; external models lack the context and scope of the game, including its features and storylines.

• API keys: Using OpenAI API keys is an optional feature in AI2U’s itch.io version, which can be a good fallback during rare moments when our default Gemini setup is under the weather. Please remember that players are responsible for managing their OpenAI API accounts, including any payments.
