addedToo many people were asking "What are those Green rectangles" and feeling generally confused about them (they are buildings), and although one Alpha tester commented that after he understood they were buildings, he preferred them over actual building images, I decided to add those building images and have been doing that for last month already and they are almost finished for the first try.
addedAt some point, I will likely update the current trailer to contain those building graphics so you can see the new-fangled dangled building graphics and stop wondering about those green rectangles what they are, as with the building graphics included, they obviously are buildings now.
addedWithout buildings, you can notice some of the rectangles are clearly thicker, as in corners having higher towers and middle too, like in the castle wall, but you won't notice that anymore after the buildings are added, which is a bit of a shame, but those buildings do look good and now it is clear why you are going against those green rectangles and why those red dots (people) are restricted by those green rectangles.

Personally, I too prefer just the green rectangles without building graphics since it leaves more space for imagination, not to mention I made one of the levels look a bit like a castle with those rectangles, which idea is now gone due to graphics, and think it looked actually better without buildings, but when having seen the buildings once, you do not want them out anymore. So for better or worse, they are there now. Here is the bit like a castle look-a-like with the buildings:

And here is the same without the buildings:
