Hello, Catarians! We’ve been keeping a little secret, and we’re finally ready to share it: the Seasons Update is arriving this Wednesday(12/17), just in time for the Steam Winter Sale! This update is our little gift to you: a big, cozy bundle of changes that bring new life, rhythm, and magic to Cataria. From shifting seasons to new mechanics, animals, music, and quality-of-life improvements, this update is all about making the world feel more alive (and a little more sparkly ). What’s New in This Update?

• New seasonal mechanics

• Falling leaves and snow particles

• Trees change color with the seasons

• Seasonal music

• New seasonal events

• Spirits visit your village (especially during fall)

• More animal animations + a brand-new lotus turtle

• Lanterns and candles give off more light

• New props to build and decorate with

• Press H to hide all UI

• Hold Left Alt to show building–villager assignments

• Press Esc to close menus

• Flatter landbridge for smoother navigation

• Smoother dirt paths

• Updated task list

• Plus plenty of bug fixes and polish

  

With this update, Cataria will now move through the seasons spring, summer, autumn, and winter, each bringing its own look, feel, and gameplay changes. Crops grow faster in the warmer months, the world shifts color as the year turns, and winter asks a little more preparation to keep homes warm. Each season also comes with its own version of the soundtrack, so the music grows and changes right alongside your village. You may also notice spirits visiting your village from time to time. These gentle visitors can appear in any season, but they’re especially drawn to Cataria in the fall, when the veil feels a little thinner. Some may be familiar faces, returning to offer blessings and quiet moments of connection.

One Month of Early Access!

We can’t believe it’s already been one month of early access — thank you so much to everyone who’s played, shared screenshots, and spent time in Cataria with us. Seeing the places you love most (and the cozy chaos you create) has been a genuine joy. Your feedback and suggestions have helped shape this update in a big way, and we’re so grateful to have such a thoughtful, caring community along for the ride.
