Hello everyone! ːsteamhappyː

It's been quite a while since the last development update. First of all, I'd like to thank everyone who has continued following Aftershock despite the long silence.

The past few months have been difficult due to exams and other responsibilities, so development hasn't progressed as quickly as I had hoped. However, I continued working on the game whenever I had free time. Instead of simply adding more content, I decided to focus on improving existing systems and preparing the project for its next stage.

Today I'd like to share some of the most important changes.

Expanded Narrative

The world of Aftershock has become richer.

Players will now be able to discover new collectible notes that reveal additional details about the story, the events that took place, and the people who lived through them.

I've also begun a major rewrite of the dialogue system. This takes quite a bit of time, as it also requires updating the dialogue voice sounds to better match the new writing.

Ending Improvements

The ending has also received significant attention.

The finale featured in the first demo was never quite what I envisioned. Over time I've completely reworked it to make it more engaging and emotionally impactful.

Since development continues to evolve, the ending may still change further before release.

Steam post imageCompletely Reworked Labyrinth

The labyrinth has become much more varied.

It now features three random layouts, making every playthrough feel a little different.

New audio cues have also been added to help players locate the victims while maintaining a balanced level of challenge.

Original Soundtrack

I'm happy to announce that a composer has officially joined the project.ːsteamhappyː

The first original track is already finished and captures the cold winter atmosphere that perfectly fits the world of Aftershock.

General Improvements

Many technical improvements have also been made.

  • Native widescreen support.

  • Updated settings menu.

  • Completely redesigned dialogue voice sounds, giving every character a more distinct identity.

While these changes may seem small individually, together they significantly improve the overall experience.

Work on the Next Level

Most of the recent development has been dedicated to creating the next level.

A large number of completely new environment models have already been created, and work is progressing steadily.

I can't wait to show you more.

Steam post imageNew Demo This Autumn

The previous demo has been removed because it no longer reflects the current quality of the project.

Rather than making small fixes, I decided to rebuild it from the ground up.

The updated demo is currently planned for release this autumn.

It will offer significant improvements to the visuals, atmosphere, gameplay, and overall quality.

Thank you all for your patience, support, and interest in Aftershock.

See you in the next development update!
