Full Controller Support Now Live (Playtest Update)

A new playtest update for After the End is now live, bringing full controller support across the game.

This is a major step forward, and the playtest is now fully playable using a controller from start to finish.

Controller Support

Controller support has been implemented across all major systems:

  • Player movement and combat

  • Inventory and item interaction

  • Journal navigation (quests, skills, map)

  • Menus and UI

The goal was to make the experience feel natural without needing a mouse at any point.

Seamless Input Switching

The game now supports dynamic switching between controller and mouse/keyboard.

UI prompts and behavior update automatically based on what you’re using, allowing you to switch between inputs at any time without interruption.

This Is Where You Come In

This is still part of the playtest, and controller support needs real player feedback.

If you run into anything that feels off — movement, menus, targeting, navigation — I want to hear it.

Even small things help.

What to Look For

If you’re playing on controller, keep an eye out for:

  • Anything that feels unintuitive or clunky

  • UI navigation issues or missed inputs

  • Combat responsiveness or targeting problems

  • Menus that don’t feel smooth to use

If something doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.

Playtest Access

If you haven’t joined yet, you can request access directly from the store page.

If you enjoy the direction of the game, adding it to your wishlist helps a lot.

And if you try the controller support, your feedback is incredibly valuable right now.

More updates coming soon.
