addedA Standard Deviation will release on the 26th of August. To tell you the truth, I feel a bit conflicted about this. If I didn't set myself some deadlines, this project could have kept going forever. There is stuff that I didn't manage to put in the game, but I kinda ran out of energy. As the development progressed, that kind of energy that comes from feedback and new ideas became more and more scarce.
addedA Standard Deviation will release on the 26th of August.Stil, I will try to add some more secrets and polish before the game comes out. And there will be time to work on updates and content post-release. But more than anything I'm looking forward to see what you all think of A Standard Deviation.

Hi everyone, how are you doing?

I've got some release date news for you:

A Standard Deviation will release on the 26th of August.

Wow, release is really just a few weeks away...

So I guess that, just like the 3 unfinished games before it, A Standard Deviation too will come to an end in order to make space for other works, just in a better shape than the others. Ultimately I'm happy with the state that the game is in now. And that's why I'm confident about this release date.

Stil, I will try to add some more secrets and polish before the game comes out. And there will be time to work on updates and content post-release. But more than anything I'm looking forward to see what you all think of A Standard Deviation.

In the meantime, please enjoy the demo I've just updated with some new stuff.

New in the demo!

  • Removed the labyrinth from the tutorial section as I recognized it is not quite an early-game puzzle. I'm sure it will resurface some day. The splitting tutorial has taken its place. And a second splitting tutorial has hit the island.

  • Added a short tutorial on how to access the map and items menu early in the game.

  • A button prompt will appear upon obtaining an equippable item for the first time. It disappears once the player equips an item once.

  • Added a room to Tower and Mirror caves that makes it more clear when progress is made toward a specific goal. They also provide a shortcut back to the base camp.

  • A new faunian is visiting the island. Players that keep exploring the island after the end of the demo may find him and accept his sprint challenge.

  • Menu fixes & improvements.
