Happy New year!
We have some exciting (and sad) news! As mentioned in the comments of our last Devblog, we were struggling to make A Maze-ing Runner interesting enough as a complete game (where completing mazes would be the main activity for players).
However, during our development process, we were increasingly excited about creating a couch multiplayer game (co-op/competetive). Consider it a collection of mini-games that are played together with friends. This game would host amongst the more typical mini games (expected in party games), serious genres such as rpg, shooter, racer, etc. Of course Mazes from A Maze-ing Runner would have a place in this game.
Since we pivoted recently, it is still in its early stages. We will publish a new steam page when we have a playable demo and will inform you here accordingly. But to get you (hopefully) excited about the game, here are some screenshots/gifs of the development progress.
Early stage of a game where the players have to survive as long as possible while obstacles move towards them. (at this stage the player was still moving on a track).
A more polished version in a Sci-Fi setting. Players will be able to attack one another.
Test of a blast attack against other players.
Test on spawning enemies around the player.
Attack test, you can see monsters being defeated.
Procedural world generation test.
A test to allow players to select their own character.
We are curious what you think of our choice, and what minigames you might want to see!
Kind regards,
Danahi & Szuryon
